    I'll start...

    - To Pimp A Butterfly - I really want to love this album was much as the world does but I keep listening over and over again to "get" it and it's not clicking. I do think it's a great album but not the coming of the revolution

    - Wu Tang - this may be due to age/era mismatch but I've listened to 36 Chambers and was kinda bored.

    - Tamar Braxton - I don't know how "hyped" she is but to me there's not much special about her. She has a couple good songs

    - The Blueprint - It's a great concept album and it's very cohesive but there are Jay albums I like better(Black Album easily) and lyrically it's not his best

    - Stillmatic - If not for Ether nobody would ever talk about it

I am not a big fan of any of those-especially Tamar. Toni just has certain something that the rest don't have. In my opinion.

For me, artist: Tamar, John Legend, ADELE, Kanye, Dr. Dre, Missy Elliot, Eminem, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Aaron Hall etc.

Why did you create this thread-man! I could fill this bitch up. Lol.

    Albums:
    Lauryn Hill "MTV Unplugged".
    Nas "Hip Hop is Dead"
    Mike Jones-"Who is Mike Jones"
Whitney is my baby but (all of her albums) left little to be desired. She had good singles and a awesome voice that served her well.
    MC Hammer "The Funky Headhunter"

I only slightly disagree with you on lauryn hills album because it wasn't as good as Miseducation but had some outstanding raw performance (albeit a little rough vocally) and Whitney had an excellent voice but to me that's all she had, her music lacked impact and creativity at times so I agree there.

I'm sorry to upset anyone but I've always thought Kanye West is one of the most overrated artists in existence. Hyped up to the extreme! I also think Nicki Minja, Beyoncé, and Rihanna are overhyped. They're ok but fans worship them on unhealthy levels. I mean I love Mariah Carey but she's not a God, or Savior, she's not my queen or flawless, just an incredible artist that I admire greatly. I'm not going to throw a fit if someone don't like her like some in the "beehive" are known for doing..

    Artists:
    Kanye West
    Nick Minja
    Beyoncé (now)
    Brittany Spears
    Taylor Swift!!!!
Jlo (for real this time, musically I don't get it..)

    Albums:
    All of Taylor Swift's
    X (Ed S)
    Beyoncé (self titled album)
That's all for now I don't really like to down other people's music especially when it's so subjective but I agree with basically all of your picks.

Yeah, you named all the ones that I would have chosen-but forgot to. I haven't heard Ed's album so I will check it out on YouTube. But yes I agree that everything is not for everybody. Artistry is very subjective and I consider music to be art.

Trey Songz...personally, I can't get into his yodeling.
Chris Brown...not necessarily him, but the music itself. For the past 2 years, it's all sounded the same.

If we can mention specific songs, I'd like to bring up "Post To Be". I think the song's booty, but everyone else ate it up like groceries.

I like John Legend but I was having a convo about him Saturday and we kinda thought it was interesting that black people don't really adore him. Like we appreciate him but if you cleaning Saturday nobody is gonna blast some John Legend. It could be just his style of music.

Adele....I'm not in love with her as much but i won't call her overrated cuz the Someone Like You/Take It All combo can hang with the best of em.

Whitney...I agree that most of her albums are truly great, although Whitney and The Preachers Wife are above par, but her singles/catalogue makes her not overrated to me...Count on Me, I Will Always Love You, I Have Nothing, I Didn't Know My Own Strength, I could go on...

I don't think the average music head over hypes Minaj, et all, but like you mentioned its the damn fans that make it bad!

It's not the style of music with John-it's just that vocally he does nothing for me. But, I have heard people say that about Kem. I don't know if you are familiar with him? He is a smooth adult contemporary singer. Has a more mature audience.

Adele-same thing. I just don't understand why black people run after her? They will cut you talking about her. She isn't doing or have done anything that has not been done already. And, I might add have been done better.

Whitney (is my favorite singer of all time). I love that lady. It hurts me to say this but her albums were not classics that will go down in history. She was a machine for Clive Davis and Arista Records. She will be known for being one of the greatest vocalists (the greatest in my mind) of all time. The singles however, were fire!

But, I love your perspective on music...

Preciate that man yeah I've heard Kem's singles but never any albums...never been compelled to lol. With Adele black people jump on whatever is hot at the moment for the most part.

Overhyped artists IMO (without giving it SERIOUS thought): Lauryn Hill, Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne, Juicy J, Jasmine Sullivan, August Alsina, Chris Brown, the Weeknd, Madonna, R. Kelly, Beyonce, Kanye, Nicki Minaj, Rhianna...

As far as albums go, even the artists I like put out shit that leaves me scratching my head ("Thriller"), LOL

Actually some of MJ's most popular songs are my least favorites. So Thriller (LP) isn't my favorite.

I hate Beat It, Thriller, The Girl Is Mine, etc.

Oldskool rant: Anything Kanye. Good pop sense at first, but most of his last few albums---meh. I just don't see all this "genius" people talk about. Same for Dr Dre's production skills and "The Chronic." If you're going to use old music and sounds, make a new, transformative piece out of it, like P.E.'s Bomb Squad did, Prince Paul's work, or the Beastie Boys did with the oodles of samples on "Paul's Boutique".

I also stick Pharrell and Bruno Mars in the bucket. Even though I think the legal judgment against Pharrell et al for "infringement" of "Got to Give It Up" is bullshit, usually with every song off his and Mars I can tell which artist they crumb-snatched and then I end up digging up that old song on Spotify instead of those two. And don't get me started on the overrated bullshit that is "Uptown Funk" (like mofos at weddings never heard a Gap Band, Zapp, Funkadelic or Brothers Johnson album before)...
