This young lady is so amazing to me. I love that the generation after mine has more freedom, understanding, and knowledge of self to identify themselves. To present who they are and articulate what they stand for without being dismissed. I'm proud of her and wish I had that clarity at 17 but I realize my journey was predestined and so is hers! Aww she's so awesome and self aware for her age! To answer your question about identifying I do personally feel like at certain ages it matters. For example, 8 years old and below I think you have an idea of what you like but I think true self identification really comes after sexual development. At that point I feel like sexual orientation can be established because you are fully equipped to actually have sex. That development starts at different times for every child so ages vary.. Some start early, other later on but I think 17 is old enough. The maturity level this girl displays also makes a difference to me, you can tell when someone's mind is made up.
It was a lovely video. However, I feel I must say, it's easier for woman to "come out" than it is for men. Woman aren't as rigid in their sexual identity as men are personally or society wise.
I agree female sexuality isn't as policed as male sexuality making for a lot more open environment for them to be themselves. Still at this age for her and now KeKe Palmer as black women to make these announcements unapologetically not looking for anyone's confirmation is something we all can take something from.
