Gay Atlanta porn actor arrested for violent assault

A gay Atlanta adult film performer and bartender was arrested for beating, choking and biting his boyfriend during a late-night brawl, at least the fifth time in two states that he's been arrested after violent altercations.

Jared Louis Velazquez, 30 – who performs in gay sex films as Tyce Jax for Raging Stallion and Next Door Ebony – was arrested on Nov. 9 for allegedly assaulting and choking his boyfriend inside their Lenox Road home. The fight took place about 3:50 p.m., though it was apparently a continuation of an argument that started shortly after midnight, according to an incident report from the Atlanta Police Department.

Velazquez lives with boyfriend Bobby Hamill, who is the co-owner of BJ Roosters, a popular gay bar on Cheshire Bridge Road. Before his arrest, Velazquez was employed as a bartender at the nightlife hotspot. When Hamill attempted to talk with Velazquez about the dispute that started hours earlier, he apparently erupted in a burst of violence, according to the incident report.

"Mr. Hamill stated that the verbal discussion became physical when Mr. Velazquez jumped on him, pushing him to the ground and attempted to strangle him," according to the incident report.

Velazquez allegedly choked Hamill until he passed out unconscious, according to police.

"Mr. Hamill stated that he was unable to breath and blacked out while the suspect continued to strike him with his fists and bite him. Mr. Hamill stated that he regained consciousness when he began screaming for help," according to an incident report.

The attack left Hamill with cuts on his back from being pushed to the ground and lacerations to his ear where Velazquez allegedly bit him. Paramedics treated Hamill for his injuries at the home, which was damaged during the altercation, police said.

"The inside of the residence was ransacked and various items were broken and in disarray," according to an incident report.

Velazquez initially refused to talk with police officers who responded to the incident, telling them only, "I did what I had to do." But he later allegedly admitted to pushing, hitting and biting Hamill when the confrontation escalated, according to police.

"Mr. Velazquez continued to be difficult and refused to complete a written statement or speak with me any further. Mr. Velazquez stated that he suffered no injuries as a result of the incident and did not need medical attention," according to the incident report.

Velazquez was denied bond and remains at the Fulton County Jail facing charges of aggravated assault – family violence, aggravated battery and battery – family violence. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

His arrest earlier this month marks the latest domestic violence case against Velazquez. On June 8, 2014, he attacked his then-boyfriend inside their apartment on Piedmont Avenue during a late-night altercation.

The victim told police that when he confronted Velazquez with accusations that he was cheating on him with another man and asked him to leave, Velazquez allegedly attacked him.

"[The victim] stated that he had been struck in the head (and headbutted) by his boyfriend/suspect," according to an incident report.

Velazquez then allegedly hit the victim twice in the forehead and eye before fleeing the apartment, police said. The victim needed stitches and was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Velazquez was arrested on July 29, 2014 and faced a first offense misdemeanor battery – family violence charge for his role in the incident. He was released from jail a day later on a $3,000 bond.

Besides the two arrests in Atlanta, Velazquez was arrested three times in less than a year in Jacksonville, Fla., where he once lived.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested Velazquez on July 18, 2010 and charged him with battery domestic violence. He was released on his own recognizance a day later. On Jan. 1, 2011, sheriff's deputies arrested Velazquez for criminal mischief and battery. He was released a day later on a $10,000 bond. Velazquez was also arrested in Jacksonville on April 29, 2011 – again on a battery domestic violence charge. He was released the same day on a $1,503 bond.

Jail records do not indicate what happened in those three criminal cases.

In August, Velazquez was at the center of a violent outburst at BJ Roosters when a 35-year-old man allegedly burst into the bar and attacked employees and patrons. The incident on Aug. 21 unfolded about 9 p.m. when Michael Antonio Ralston, 35, caused a disturbance at the bar, according to an incident report.

Velazquez told police that while bartending, he asked Ralston to leave the venue. He refused and then allegedly hit Velazquez in the face and struck him with a pool stick. Ralston also allegedly hit Hamill in the hand and threw pool balls at him and another employee inside the bar.

When Ralston finally fled the bar, Velazquez and other employees chased him along Cheshire Bridge.

"Mr. Velazquez advised the fight then proceeded outside and down Cheshire Bridge Rd NE when police showed up. The other individuals in the immediate group were all employees of BJ Roosters as well and were all assaulted throughout the incident," according to an incident report.

Ralston was charged with criminal trespass and four counts of aggravated assault.

We've reached out to Hamill about the arrest and Velazquez's employment status and will update the post if he responds.

UPDATE | In all three cases in Florida, the charges were later dropped and the cases closed, according to records with the Duval County Clerk of Courts.

In the April 2011 case, the domestic battery charge was dropped two days before Velazquez was scheduled to be arraigned. In the January 2011 case, the domestic battery and criminal mischief charges were dropped two weeks after his Jan. 1 arrest. In the July 2010 case, the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery were dropped on Aug. 11, three weeks after Velazquez was arrested.

In all three cases, judges declared Velazquez indigent and appointed public defenders to represent him.
