    I can't tell if this post already exists but here it goes anyway - so Cypher Avenue certainly has a slant towards the masculine side of the homosexual spectrum yada yada but I bet even the most hypermasculine guy out here has that one mainstream 'gay scene' thing he fucks with. No need for full confessionals, let's just limit this to music, shall we? You know that one gay anthem you sort of lose your shit to privately or when out and about (not necessarily voguing...this is still Cypher Avenue after all).

    So what's your gay (anthem) musical guilty pleasure? Me - Gwen Guthrie 'Ain't Nothin Goin on But The Rent (....I'm looking for a man to put some money in my hands)'.

    It should be interesting to read what Nick's and Ocky's are.

    I would have to say out of the Gay anthems, I'd have to pick Ain't Nobody by Chaka Khan. I don't loose my sh!t when it comes on, I just always liked it even when I was kid when it came out. The track is just really well produced. I don't know it was at anthem level until it came on at Bulldogs in Atlanta and everybody (but me) was singing along with it.

    I guess you're talking about stereotypical songs lik YMCA lol but this song below is one I've been bumping for a minute..for..reasons..but anyways when I hear guys say "Yeah I'm down" or "they didn't know I get down" I think about this song:

    I have always loved this song. Great song...but I had no idea it was a gay anthem. I don't ever remember hearing it played at the white gay clubs I went to though. A shame.

    Regarding the topic, I would say Gloria Gaynor 'I will survive' (no shame in that cause I am old lol). Also "Mighty Real" by Sylvester. No shame on that either. If it is a gay anthem you should be able to dance to it or have sex with it playing IMO(shamed by this though).

    Runner up for me Thelma Houston "Don't leave me this way"...love the song, I am old, and originally by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes (lead singer *takes deep breath* Teddy Pendergrass, my second favorite singer ever *genuflects* ) Favorite is Bruce Springsteen. (don't judge me, no shame lol). I guess my favorite singers were good live performers and guys I would have wanted to have sex with. Never got the 'diva worship' that gays seem to do.


    *What is lurker status? Is that an official thing or is that someone who just posts infrequently? just curious. (anyone can answer this if they want....just throwing it in here.

    There's the anthem of all anthems, Vogue, it has got a good upbeat after all, regardless of the impact of the video. I don't believe I've been in a place where people considered it a sort of macarenaish call to replicate the dance in the video (enough people to make it a sight at least).

    Btw I don't mean lose your shit like all the way, more like a song one actually digs.

    I like watching Tina Turner perform. Probably not mainstream Bi/Gay/SGL but I feel my most... "alternative" when watching. Its exciting and interesting to me that she was in her 50s almost during most of these shows and went off like she did! Heres my favorite one to watch.

    Not gonna lie, I had this "appreciation" for Lady Gaga when I studied abroad in China back in college. They would play her songs on loop at the clubs there that me and the other students would frequent. These were straight clubs too. And I liked how her performances were super gay because she would only hire gay men as dancers for her tours. I was actually supposed to go to her concert in Hong Kong back then, but plans fell through. That was the pinnacle of my gayness and I'm slightly ashamed.

    I'm originally from Jersey and we play house music at cookouts, parties or anywhere black folk congregate to celebrate and have a good time. I didn't know, until recently that house music was associated with LGBT parties (I guess that's why I liked it so much..lol). But in jersey (northern jersey at least) this kind of music was played at "straight" parties all the time. My guilty pleasure song.
