After looking at the interview, I'm far more bothered by celebrity worship and Black folks actually caring what the fuk Lil Wayne has to say on an issue he doesn't care about. WTF? This stupid sh!t is now trending with triggered Black people?

It doesn't surprise me. He's a celebrity. When our idols fail us, it bruises our warped sense of allegiance to them. If you have a certain level of maturity, it's a non issue. You will have already accepted the fact that there will always be folks that have no intention of aligning their moral compass with the sociopolitical zeitgeist of the day - let alone use their platform to speak on it. On the court, on the field, in the booth, on the stage, in the board room, on tv, everywhere. All skin folk ain't kinfolk. Some folks are all about that paper.

In the words of the great Southern philosopher and poet Clifford Harris, "If it ain't about the money, don't be blowin' me up, nigga I ain't gettin' up. If it ain't about the money ain't no use in you ringin' my line, stop wastin' my time. If it ain't about the money nah I can't even hear what you say, I ain't finna do shit. If it ain't about the money
Bitch, you can miss me with it, bitch nigga miss me with it."

Hood nikkas who become entertainers and celebrities/social mediabrities are not to be taking seriously. There is no political bone in his body. The question should have been "Where da weed or pussy at?".

"When the reporter began asking me questions about my daughter being labeled a bitch and a hoe, I got agitated," he said. "From there, there was no thought put into her (the reporter's) questions"

He got agitated about it because he doesn't see his daughters as "bitch or hoe" but sees other's daughters as "bitches & hoes" but he doesn't understand or comprehend the thought behind the question? Ok dude.

All Jokes aside: people talk about emotional intelligence this, empathy that.

As a young black male who is FULLY aware of the disproportionate systematic disenfranchisement of black people, how am I supposed to empathize with Lil Wayne's statement? how I am supposed to say "I feel your pain" to someone like this? How can I look at things from his angle? I just don't know where to start... He makes Trump voters very reasonable human beings by contrast.

Far too many black people get rich and try to pretend that they have transcended past racism. In many ways this is true but that doesn't discredit the fundamentally systemic racism problem that exists throughout American culture. Further, this only gives license to Wayne's impressionable young stans who will use his words when they fall down and say something stupid.

It definitely the lean that is messing him up. If he does make it to 40 I won't be surprise if he will have some brain damage (that codeine is no joke) of becomes some super religious jesus freak slurring bible passages with autotune.

Another thing the line "My life matters, especially to my bitches" is the funniest thing I heard all year

There's no nice way to say it. Lil Wayne is a fucking idiot. You know it, I know it the whole goddamn world knows it. There is no reason why anyone should be asking him anything about any subject matter for importance. The inevitable results will be a train wreck. I'm convinced that's the only reason he gets asked questions like this.

It's funny because he was just on Solange, Chance and YG's pro-black political albums. He was def on drugs while recording then.

Wayne's definitely got an issue with controlled substances across the spectrum. And I know his publicist is probably on anxiety meds as we speak. All in all, Wayne has clearly evolved into more of an opportunist as he has become more wealthy and comfortable with his place in pop culture. And with that typically comes a strategic, quasi disassociation. And for all non-white folks in his position or traveling parallel paths to it, that bubble always bursts sooner or later.
