What's going on Squad Members? I know usually we talk a lot about rap and Hip-Hop music. I'm interested in knowing what r&b music you're listening to, if any. I've been listening to a lot of Ro James lately View attachment 4427

I'm always browsing Spotify for new music, alongside 104.3 to expand my musical listening. Once in a while, I will get nostalgic and go back to the 80s and 90s for R&B songs I grew up on.
A couple songs I've been listening to lately that fall into the R&B category...I think. As I no longer listen to the radio, I tend to stay on SC (SoundCloud) and Spotify mostly.
Yo can you stay out of my playlist or just come over here and cuddle with me? "I Don't Know What the Weather Will Be" will be on repeat.

Smokey invented a whole new genre with this album, so much so that we still refer to this style of R&B as "Quiet Storm." Diana Ross was hitting all the cylinders in the 70s, so just about any album she did is a good pick, but you can't go wrong with her first solo record. She magnificently transformed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" the same way Luther Vandross transformed "A House is Not a Home." As kid, though, I wondered why she had a skinny kid from Bangladesh on the cover, until I took a closer look (lol). So many classics on this one. Chaka Kkan was diva before most people even knew what diva was. One of her best albums, and the lead song, "Clouds" is a classic from Valerie Ashford of Ashford and Simpson, with a certain 16-year-old future diva named Whitney singing background Not 70s, but sorry to hear this brother recently died, and penniless too. Probably one of, if not the single biggest House music artist of the 80s. "Trapped" was his biggest hit, but I always liked this one
