When people ask "How are you still single?"

That questions is so redundant. Whenever someone asks me that I be thinking "You trying to put in your application with that question?!

 

Shit...that's the million dollar question.

I am just going to eat my fries and wait for the responses. I got 2 hrs before I go to work.

 

I hate that question.

 

THAT QUESTION UPSETS ME

 

The question doesn't bother me that much, maybe because it's usually been asked by people who really don't know me well and are asking based on a positive but somewhat shallow first impression. I'm somewhat amused that they've determined that I'm a catch with such little information, but I'm usually cautious when making such determinations without knowing someone well.

 

I tell people i enjoy being single and not ready to take on someone fulltime right now. I think a lot of people enjoy the idea of being in a relationship but dont understand that it takes a lot of work. You have to be willing to put up with all the stuff that person brings with them. At this point in my life Im selfish and enjoy it.

 

Sadly this is the story of my life smh

For some odd reason yeh, I get asked this question more by women rather than other gay men.

 

They're basically asking if you're gay or why are you gay then.

 

Was gonna reply with the same. Almost always women ask. Maybe a few of my str8 male acquaintances, but never another gay dude. So, there may be something immediately visibly wrong with me that only gay dudes can see. LOL Anyways, I usually just do the obligatory head shake, feign a smile, and say.."well, if I knew the answer to that, then I wouldn't be single now would I?". We all laugh and move on to the next topic and Im usually left with that shit on my mind for a hot minute. Worst shit is the question normally comes after I spent madd time getting the thoughts of being single OUT of my head. smh.

 

I have a gay friend who literally addresses me as Kenya Moore lol. He insists that I must be bat shyt crazy on the low, simply because Im single.

 

I get asked this pretty frequently, but my answer is always the same..."I haven't found the right mixture of what I am looking for yet." I don't drink now but when I did a little, I would notice that I could get the same drink at different places and it never tasted the same. That's what dudes seem to be for me. I can get some of the same qualities in multiple people, but the way the chemistry works together with those qualities does not translate the same way. It's frustrating as h***

I answer as truthfully as possible and say because I am strange and off putting and like being by myself.
Which then gets followed by the lightning round of questions and one way arguments meant to dissuade me from my "sad and lonely" choice that I must be saved from.

 

I can totally relate.I don't even usually like to bring it up to people.Basically my answer is "I don't feel like it right now"

 

My answer: "The ones I wanted to be with didn't want to be with me and the ones that wanted to be with me, I didn't want to be with."

 

Damn! Plain and simple-love it!

 

Gave it a shot....he took it for granted...now I'm gucci flirting with whomever I want. Single life is NOT bad. He'll come along. No rush.

I was thinking the same sh!t. LOL I just binged watched a bunch of ANTMs last weekend. LOL (Yes, I liked that show...what!?)
