I think dating apps and websites, jackd grindr , tinder and okcupid are bad because the whole premise, of finding love is a very sensitive and emotional process.

The idea of an online service to help you do this easily, from home, just with a click attracts a lot of extreme people, either etremely possessive relationship types or extremely flaky hookup oriented types.

The less extreme personalities or not socially inept people either meet people in real life or even on general social platforms like facebook and Instagram.
The anonymity and ease of access the internet allows, makes it easy for people to catfish. Some people aren't catfishing but show only the parts of their life that are nice, creating a false perception.

If you use stories and video chat features you can get a more natural form of communication so it's harder to hide behind fakes personas with.

It's much worse on dating apps, because the idea of finding love and sex online creates high expectations that make people do crazy things.

For the gay community it's hard because you can't walk up to any man and tell him you're interested, without the risk of aggression. And for those in the closet they can hide their identity easier. Dating apps help filter out men, so our reliance on them, puts us at higher risk of online predators than straight people.

I've tried Jackd and had some bad experiences. Being that I don't mind showing my face, a lot of dudes use to know who I was but I didn't know them. On server occasions I'd get insulting messages from a guy who said he saw me twice in public. I'm a pretty sensual person, so I don't mind guys doing whatever to pics I take but there was this one guy that always came to page from a blank profile and made comments about my photos. He would Screenshot my photos and send them back to me as a message saying....Why are you taking pics like this? Why you can't take normal pics? Etc.. lol He acted like he knew who I was. I blocked him and he made nother blank account. Same thing..lol

The argument for them is probably knowing everyone on the apps are there for what you want (more or less),and then you know the guys there are into men.On facebook you could meet someone you like or connect with, but they might turn out to be straight (happens to me a lot in real life) or they may not be looking for anyone.
I would say the middle ground might be a gay social network wit ha dating component, but then I remembered how bgc turned out.

I agree with you. Even though I have never fully dated or meet anyone on them I once download jacked and growlr and created an okcupid account just to view ppl to see what's out there. When I view people on okcupid I like to see if they list an instagram page and compare it to their OKcupid. I find their IG accounts don't match the perceived view I got of them from their OK account.

It seems like it would just be better to search people on social media mediums. I feel IG and even facebook you can get a better feel of people. You can also see if people you know are acquainted with them. That way you can prevent yourself from being Donald Ducked.

I do appreciate it when guys post their instagram or Fb accounts on their dating profiles... and then you eventually find everybody else on jack'd or whatever because they all follow and know each other... but that's another story.. I wouldn't post any of mine but they're saving my time with the whole picture game bs. Some trick you and some are who they say they are when you see them in motion.

(Not to put my business out there so don't tell nobody [shhh lol]) but I have a link of my Instagram on my Jack'd profile. Two pictures and describing myself in a couple of sentences in my opinion doesn't give dudes a feel of who I really am.
