We’re Fucked.

“Paralyzing Ice Storm” is what they’re calling it on the local Atlanta news…There’s word of 3 to 5 inches of snow coming along with a quarter inch or more of slick ice lining all of the highways and roads.

The electric utility company Georgia Power has already announced that this coming ice storm is going to be “catastrophic” for keeping everyone’s power on and that we should expect outages for days if not weeks.

According to the National Weather Service:

Impacts: snow, sleet and freezing rain will accumulate on roads making for hazardous driving conditions through Thursday. As the more significant snow and ice occurs Wednesday and Wednesday night, travel will be nearly impossible. Widespread and extended power outages are likely as ice accumulates on trees and powerlines and brings them down. Please Prepare to be without power in some locations for days and perhaps as long as a week. Once the ice begins to melt on Thursday and Friday. Falling ice from bridges and overpasses will create an additional hazard.

This all means that Cypher Avenue, based out of Atlanta, will likely not be updated with new posts much this week if things go dim and dark in this part of the country.

More tragic than that, we poor residents of the metropolitan will be out of lighting, heat, television, the use of computers and the internet for a little while.

I’ve stocked up on some food and liquor. I’ve also got plenty of candles and physical books to read to keep me entertained. Also I can catch up on some writing once I remember how to use a pencil and pad again.

As for porn, well lets just say I have old issues of XXL, VIBE and Muscle & Fitness magazine laying around that can finally be put to good use.

Being from the North, this all seems like minor weather conditions for so many apocalyptic predictions…but it is what it is…I’d rather have the city shut down occasionally than shovel 6-8 inches of snow for months-on-end like I did when I was growing up.

If you’re in the Atlanta area, stay warm and be safe and keep off of the roads unless you absolutely have to get out.

See you on the other side!
