Two questions how am I supposed to download the MP3 and are the podcasts not going to be available on iTunes anymore?
First Question: We’ll add download links from now on.
Second Question: Not anytime soon.
Long podcasts really aren’t an issue for me.y’all keep it entertaining. And I gotta say,I did enjoy X2.X3 needed Nightcrawler,Brian Singer, and a fully unleashed Phoenix (who didn’t die from being fcking stabbed) among other things
On a serious note, in reponse to the discussion of 12yrs a slave and other movies relating to the black struggle ,i really hoped Fruitvale Station would’ve gotten a bigger response.Even though we need to tell more stories from black history with proper depth and descriptions,a lot of people are still unaware of the prevalence of racial profiling and other racial/social issues the exist in this decade
You guys are now rolling out these podcasts like artists are rolling out mixtapes/albums in the music biz lol. I just took a study break and skipped to the 1:00:36 mark. I seriously needed to hear that. Like… I can’t really explain what’s going on in life right now but I am still seeking professional help. Trying to see what works best for myself. Alright… back to work! #cypheravenuevent
Seeeking help when you need it is the most sane thing to do.I wish you the best
I also disagree with Ocky about men not wanting help/guidance/advice from hyper masculine men and wanting it from women. I think it’s the exact opposite. Whenever I try to talk to one of my gays who is conflicted about being in the closet, masculinity, etc…they tell me I just can’t understand because I’m not masculine or in the closet.
Wait I thought your friend don’t like CA because of the hyper-masculinity? If they did…wouldn’t they be seeking advice from us???
Since you refuse to delete this I guess I have to respond. The vast majority of my friends do not like the site. I have a few who do. They also happen to be in the closet or think they are discreet. So ironically they will come here and listen to a podcast where the site tells them to get over it. Now how you feel?
Why would I delete my comment? Anyway…
So if the vast majority of your friends seek out masculine advice where do they get it from? I know everything is not for everybody (speaking on Cypher Ave); however what other black gay website caters to masculine black gay men that your friends are visiting to get advice from concerning their masculinity?
I don’t think you are following me clearly. The vast majority of my friends don’t like this site. Those friends aren’t seeking out advice from a masculine website/person. They are fine with who they are. My few friends that do visit the site dont want advice from fem men because they can’t relate apparently. So they come here. Does that clear up what I’m trying to say for you?
Yes Sir and still keep Idris Elba’s name out yo mouth!
OMG. I have a sort of newfound respect for Nick. I don’t go see movies like The Help, Blindside, and Dangerous minds…etc. The white savior films usually just upset me. It bothered me about Django however, I don’t think Django shied away from the horrors of slavery. I mean some scenes were so brutal I could barely watch them. And what was Ocky talking about? Will Smith is the STAR and LEAD of all of his films. It’s his stipulation and why he turned down Django. I mean he and his son were the only stars of After Earth. And lastly, Idris Elba is not a movie star. He doesn’t even get top billing in any of his films. Most people didn’t even know he was in Thor. No one realizes he was in 28 Weeks later. He still does TV gigs. Will Smith and Denzel….even Wesley Snipes ain’t doing tv work.
Ocky’s penis has decided that Idris Elba is a movie star so his brain can’t comprehend anything otherwise. It happens to us all eventually. That’s the downside of being men.
If anyone says anything negative about Idris Elba I will shut this website down!
Stringer Bell killed Wallace but Michael B. Jordan is about to steam roll Idris’ whole career
I cant stand you.
@hannibal I have nothing against Michael B Jordan, but when I see him on screen I kinda roll my eyes. Why? because he seems to be the new “go to black token actor” who just so happened to be in the right place at the right time. (or maybe he’s related to someone who helped get him in).
I haven’t seen anything he’s done that could not be pulled off by some other random Black dude. Now he’s in a upcoming film starring Zac Efron about 3 friends who navigate through the dating scene. Kinda like a “white” version of the movies “Boomerang” or “Think like a Man”.
They can miss me with that unrealistic bullfuckery.
I was actually just being facetious since Ocky keeps insisting Idris Elba is a movie star lol. In reality I hate when people always try to compare other black actors against each other…as if there can only be one at a time. We’re not Highlanders. We can have multiple stars on screen.
Dear Hannibal…keep Idris’ name outta yo mouth!
I’ve read that he’s being considered as the Human Torch in the fantastic Four reboot
I think Idris is on the cusp of something big, 007!
Great conversation as always guys. Too many topics for me to respond to even though I really want to 🙂
BTW – I agree with X-men First Class the best out of the crop. The rest of them was a bag of hot sh*t.
I.M.O X-Men 1 was just “meah” X-men 2 was great The 3rd one had too much going on. First class was the best of the bunch. I love Halle but her storm was WEAK!
I really have to prepare myself to watch movies like “12yrs a Slave.” Movies like that can really have me walking around wanted to slap the hell out of a random white person. But it’s based on a true story so I’m more inclined to watch it. If @nick cried, my ass probably will be sobbing.
@Hannibal You are right. Idris Elba is not a big movie star. He’s very popular with black women and that’s about it. And he ain’t really all that to look at. Don’t let anyone try to convince you otherwise. LOL
IF ONE MORE PERSON SAYS SOME ILL SHIT ABOUT IDRIS ELBA…” alt=”” title=”” class=”bbcode-image” />
I REALLY hope Idris Elba gets that James Bond gig!
He will never be James Bond. The best we can hope for is that he appears in one and gets a spinoff.
I was talking to a coworker, who is a big comic book nerd, about black panther being made into a movie. We both agreed it would be a great movie. I told him it would never happen anytime soon for one reason. A large part of the white powers that be, would not give the movie the go ahead simply because they would hate on the idea that the smartest, most technological advanced group of people on earth is race of blacks in Africa.
First off…you are so right…
Second. OMG…dude please tell me you seen the Black Panther cartoon?
I have seen 2 maybe 3 different cartoons on netflix. And they had some well known black actors that were the voice of the characters. Which one you referring to?
this is a action comic for Black Panther. It was made for BET but never released in the US. It came out in Australia but came to DVD later in the states.
@ocky yeah I know exactly which one you talking about …. Djimon Hounsou, Jill Scott , Carl lumby, and every black gay man’s favorite bad bitch ,Kerry Washington, all do voices for the characters on that. It was off the chain man, it was on Netflix for a minute but they took it off. I thought it was tight though, even though I wasn’t a fan off that action comic type of animation.
I’ve notice that when y’all discuss creators 0f black gay characters/ black gay series, you never mention “The Closet”. This series written by Maurice Townes is basically about “masculine” black/men of color created around the same time as Noah Arc. Is it because it’s mostly about black gay DL men who are for the most part “masculine”? In my opinion, most black gay “masculine” are DL or in the closet. The creators of this series are black and I think they did a pretty decent job. Maybe we would have more black/men of color creators of gay media/series if they had more support from black gay “masculine” men that are more visual in the community, just sayin’ Feel free to followup on this comment.
BLASPHEMY!!!! Idris Elba is a movie star no if and or Damn buts!!!!! I will help @ocky shut this shit down if someone says otherwise.
He took second billing to Beyonce in one movie…that should tell you all you need to know.
See why you gotta go start shit. Smh
With Kanye I don’t think he has to seek the approval of anyone to have a fashion line. What Kanye needs to do is use his platform to do his own thing. I still don’t understand why he thinks he needs the approval of these “reigning white fashion designers” in order to have a clothing line. He doesn’t need Paris, Milan and all that. He just needs to do his own thing!
what are the chances of you guys having a live show where we can call in and contribute the the conversation?
We have had one so far. We will have another in the future. It will be advertised.
They have in the past. It was fun.
