One of Cypher Avenue’s favorite black gay musicians, Kaoz, is featured in the new music video called “Positions” from openly gay Pop/R&B singer Marck Angel.
Marck Angel has been grinding on the underground SGL music scene since 2008 and shows no signs of stopping. According to his bio, he’s received “striking vocal comparisons to the late-great Michael Jackson, Marck also heavily credits influences by Janet Jackson, Tevin Campbell, Ralph Tresvant, El Debarge and Marvin Gaye.”
Independent artists like this need honest, constructive feedback from people outside of their circle. So our question to you:
Is he on the right path?
What are your thoughts on this music video and his song?
Hit or Miss: Is this a banger? Or is it a dud?
You decide!

SONG IS A DUD.
The song is ice cold
I can see Lasto on this song but not Kaoz. It seem more like Lasto target audience. As I get more familar with music I have heard from Kaoz, he seem like a that socially, and sexually conscious kind of rapper. This just seemed too gay mainstream for him in my opinion. The song is flat and this dude singing does not sound like Michael Jackson.
Great big dud.
I like it for no other reason than that its provocative and will get the right really riled up… LOL.
Hit, I like this ouhhh !
As hard as I might want to show support for the community, I must say this was a MISS. He’s completely singing out of his range making it very irritating to listen to. The beat and hook were overly repetitive, after the first minute or so there’s really no reason to keep going. Just to be honest if a new female artist put this out would we even care (NO). We would simply dismiss her as a low budget Janet/Aaliyah/Ciara clone.
I think Prince said it best:

too gay but to each his own
Its a miss. Unfortunately, I nothing about the aesthetic really felt original. The video displays competence in performance at least. I’d like to see something more innovative and original from the artist. Based solely on this video and song, what I was presented here wasnt enough to make me want to keep listening. I’d be interested to hear more from the rapper… he had more of the originality spark/thing to which i refer.
Proof r&b music is dead….dude needs to stay underground….way underground
Umm………
I like it not because of its artistry, but because it will raise a lot of hell with the right. LMAO, very provocative and in your face.
If I was a gay 16 year old again I might feel this song and video . MIGHT. This is a good example of a mediocre musican or syllable based project for a multimedia art student. It’s also a good example of of an educator who is socially reckless and not conscious of it. I think kaoz likes … black ice.
I kinda like it, but it sounds a song Janet Jackson recorded and then threw in the reject pile and Marck decided to use it.
Hmmm… I actually liked it. He does give a Janet-esque kinda vibe but you don’t see even straight indie artists putting out videos or songs with quality close to this level. We must be more supportive of “our” artists. Plus if he was “mainstream” I can see several gays twerking in the club to this on any given Friday night. And the chemistry between the two guys was kinda sexy. I’d like to see what he sounds like on a slower track though to get a better idea of his vocals.
hot hot hot. the beat knocks. dancin is on point. video production and editing is clean. like the song and the rappers. #hit
