Is MIAKA serious with this nonsense? I am sure this is just a publicity stunt to garner attention to their organization. If they are serious, I am sure the case would get thrown out; however this is still irritating the hell out of me on so many levels.
Let me go into detail for you.
I know that many feminine men identify or relate to women more so than men and even refer to each other as “girl”. I
think when identifying with women crosses over into obsession and worship, then there is a problem. If you are a proud gay man, why would you want to belong to a female organization? Feminine or not, where is your sense of pride in your maleness?
Keep in mind in no way am I referring to transgender women or anyone who is inter-sexed…I am talking about regular feminine gay men.
This is what really annoys me about the men of MIAKA; they have a lack of creativity and imagination. MIAKA is mimicking a historical and already established group.
MIAKA is copying their colors (pink and green), throwing up their “pinkies” like AKA women do and even stealing the sorority’s famous call “skee wee”!
There are even videos MIAKA has filmed of their probate crossing over (complete with a fat big sister) and the hijacked calls of “skee wee” can be heard by the other “sisters” in the back ground. (Video Below)
Members of fraternities have a sense of brotherhood and are able to deal with and discuss issues based upon their maleness. The same goes for members or sororities. There are many LGBT Greek organizations across the country (over 25).
MIAKA could have easily started their own local chapter of a national organization like Delta Phi Upsilon (first black homosexual fraternity) that promote brotherhood and deal with issues based upon their male homosexuality. They could have even taken the additional steps and researched homosexual history across Latin America and Africa and applied a historical aspect to creating their own unique organization versus one that is mirrored off of Greek / European / Caucasian fraternities and sororities.
Again, where is the imagination and creativity?
I can only assume that if these feminine young men attempted to join any black fraternity, they would face some resistance and push back from black fraternity members on campus due to their femininity and sexuality; then I could see them filing suite for possible discrimination. With that said, we all know plenty of gay men who are members of black fraternities.
This is a false flag and bogus cry of discrimination where there is none. It is not discrimination if a man goes into a public building and enters the women’s restroom and gets arrested.
As a co-creator of this website, I hear it all the time. Fem dudes complaining about our site and saying that we are a part of the problem by causing division. Screaming non-inclusiveness and internalized homophobia…WTF ever.
Maybe you should stop and think that your flamboyant actions and attitudes, not your sexuality or femininity is what excludes you.
If a lawsuit is filed, it will cause the real and legitimate cases of LGBT sexual discrimination to be more heavily questioned and scrutinized. It will take attention and focus away from the real struggles that the LGBT community face every day.
Further Division in the Black Community
We already have enough on our plate without adding further division between the black community and the black homosexual community. Even though it is on a small scale, this is exactly what this particular issue is doing.
Members of Fraternities and Sororities take their pledge, mission statements, history, colors, organizational codes and values
very seriously. More importantly they have pride in their organizations. MIAKA’s threatening actions does nothing but to inflame the already preconceived notion that gays are attempting to push their agenda and forcing their sexuality on everyone else.
This also reinforces the negative notion yet again that being a homosexual man equals being a feminine gay man.
MIAKA’s actions not only help breed ignorance and induce homophobia, they are clouding the waters of the discussion, all in the name of wanting to be included in a woman’s organization that doesn’t want them at the table.
I would hope she would not take the easy road and file a discrimination lawsuit but would do the responsible thing and properly explain to him…
“Everything is not for everybody. Just because you want to be included, that doesn’t mean
you

In all honesty I grew up the child of a Delta, always around Delta’s. When I got to college I learned more about ALL the Fraternities and Sororities in the NPHC. There was no complimentary male fraternity to Delta, that did all the awesome things that they do in the community. Sometimes when I continue to think about wanting to join a Frat, I feel as though I am settling. At the same time I am nowhere interested in starting a new one to copy all that Delta does. I would rather settle being in a Frat that meets my standards or not join one at all. Not mimic one for surface reasons, and that is all men are doing.
I personally have never had the desire to join a Frat, I like to step (just cause I like anything related to dance) but to go through all that madness my dude, nah. Going through Basic Training and AIT was more than enough of being made subservient and belittled. But THIS SHIT RIGHT HER’ my dude…RI-DIC-U-LOUS. Muh’fuckaz always trying to stick they asses in places where it either don’t fit, or is not wanted. I remember hearing about this yeeeeeears ago actually, listening to Steve Harvey on the WBLS Morning Show and the shit pissed me off. It’s along the same lines as women trying to become members at a Male Only Gym, or men trying to join a Women’s Only Sewing Club. Dude, sit the f#$k down, man!! EVERYTHING doesn’t have to be integrated. I WISH there was a men only gym I could go to, tired of chicks checkin out my junk, givin me googly eyes, then suckin they teeth and rollin eyes cause Im not payin them attention. LOL Anyways, case and point, I know this article is mad old now Ock, but I fully, FULLY agree with you. EveryTHING…is NOT for EVERYBODY!!SIT…the F$%K DOWN!!
Boy, you know a male only gym would be a hook up spot. Stop playin’. lol
Unisex Gyms are already hook up spots for the gays, what would be the big difference? LMAO
Two things I want but will never come to fruition….
1. An all male gym, in the hood, not in Chelsea or the Upper West fuckin Side somewhere, expensive as hell and full of arrogant ass “I don’t normally mess with Black guys, but….” Chelsea Queens.
2. A Male Massage Spa, employing masseurs of different ethnicities aside from Asian and (Euro)White. How bout a Dominican run, All Male Spa. LMAO
I could be wrong, but I think them suing the organization was a hoax (I can’t quite recall which site had investigated it, but there were no legal actions pursued and no actual hard evidence that this was planned). Plenty of rumors and speculation was flying around, but nothing seemed to come of it (no proceeding, no actual official statements from the MIAKAs or their lawyer to this effect).
I really suspect that the rumors only got carried around the web so rapidly because its the kind of thing that can get people riled up against gays, making them appear to want to force their way into organizations that clearly weren’t meant for them. For someone already against gay rights, this just becomes another tool they can use to justify their anger.
Well, I have no doubt that the whole “law suite” thing was a hoax, the whole fiasco was baseless and they wouldn’t hand had a leg to stand on in court (if the courts would’ve even wasted their time viewing said case) but the fact that they were emulating an already well known, well established Soror under the premise of (fierceness), I had have no doubt of. I’ve been around and observed enough effeminate black men over the years (especially down south when I was stationed at Ft. Bragg)to have a pretty decent idea of the mentality, to know that the association with the A.K.A.’s was being viewed internally as “OVAH Huney,YASSSS!! Why WE can’t rock that Pink and Green HUNeyy, YASSS!!! Skee Weeeeee!!! {{INSERT DIPS, PURSED LIPS, AND ATTITUDE/ RUNWAY HERE}}” and the fact that it was pissin’ off the Sorors and Frats and general straight black populace just fueled the intention more. Again, not everything is for everybody.
Oh I agree, its absolutely clear that they wanted to be AKAs, and they were definitely emulating them to the fullest. And in my opinion, that in and of itself isn’t appropriate if you’re publicly using their colors, imagery, chants, etc. It borders on parody at best, and is misrepresentation at worst. In fact, that’d be a pretty interesting discussion to have about if people think that was appropriate or not. But there’s a far jump between “playing AKA” and making a ridiculous lawsuit to force your way into a sorority. Like you said, not everything is for everybody.
As a man that’s a part of an NPHC organization I find this bullshit to be insulting and disrespectful to the AKA’s and what they stand for. No organization wants anyone PERIOD representing their letters without having gone through the proper channels and being that these people are males they would never be eligible to enter a sorority and judging from the disrespect they have for black Greeks and themselves I wouldn’t want them anywhere near my frat either. The way I see this is they can easily go off and form their own letter organization as many have instead of biting off a sororities legacy.
