Cypher Avenue has become too popular. Seriously. The company that hosts our web server constantly throttles the bandwidth from our site (making pages load EXTREMELY slow for everyone) or they just randomly shut our site down completely, all because we’re getting more traffic to our site than what they (and we) anticipated.

Well over 50,000 people (gay & straight) log on to Cypher Avenue every month, and many of them visit the site multiple times per day. On top of that, Cypher Avenue has quickly become more than just a “Blog”.

We now have growing Social Media features, a dedicated video library page, dozens of original audio podcasts streamed directly from the site, profile pages for each member of the site, a private messaging system for readers to interact with and send photos to one another, the ability for users to insert images/gifs/videos into article comments, a brand new instant chat feature and much, much more…

All that hotness and we have still remained true to ourselves and to our brand…And remember, the site is still run entirely by two masculine gay guys with day jobs, an active social life and not much support/recognition in the gay media community overall (they’re offended by our lack of porn, shade throwing and Beyonce worship).

So now that we’ve outgrown our old place, it’s time to move into a “deluxe apartment in the sky”. We’re packing up, opening up our wallets and moving Cypher Avenue to a new (more expensive) server that will be able to handle the increased site features, traffic and bandwidth.

“Nicca, why you making this announcement instead of just doing it?”

Well, in our transition phase, we’ll have to make the site inaccessible for brief periods of time as we transfer all of the files to the new secure server. So if any regular readers try to log on and find the site shut down, don’t worry…The Gay Mafia can’t claim responsibility.
