The music world lost a great producer and rapper 10 years ago when J. Dilla crossed over February 10, 2006. He died of a blood disease three days after his birthday. Glynn Washington’s Snap Judgment shared a short radio documentary of what happened when record store owner Jeff Bubeck buys an old record collection out of an abandoned storage unit. Jeff has no idea that the unit once belonged to J. Dilla.
Producer Pat Mesiti-Miller talks with Jeff Bubeck and Dilla’s mother, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey.

Wow what an amazing story. I love J Dilla. I did not know he had produced a lot of my fav artist until after he died. I did not know the financial situation before he died also. His younger brother is also becoming a great MC in a while. Great to hear Mama Dilla is able to share this great gift.
Heard this one last year. Been following Dilla since ATCQ & Pharcyde days. His influence on hip hop is irrefutable. So interesting to see how the lore continues to unravel. Dilla 4 Eva.
