Do I love Oprah, I mean who doesn't? She is the epitome of self-made. More power to her. I think it would be a disastrous mistake for Oprah to try to become a politician, which despite what you think is a skillset. Oprah's brand, Orpah's ethos, Oprah's regard would be ruined as soon as she slapped on a partisan label.

Oprah is a once in a lifetime talent whom we should all try to learn from. But she is not a politician. Could Oprah become a successful candidate for the presidency? Absolutely. Could she even win a presidential election against Donald? Without a doubt.

When Oprah speaks, people listen. The same won’t be true if private citizen Oprah becomes presidential candidate Winfrey. Presidential candidate Winfrey will have her philanthropy turned into a weapon used against her, rather than an example of her devotion to equality. Does that sound familiar? Presidential candidate Winfrey will have her personal relationships placed under a microscope. Need I go on? Presidential candidate Winfrey will be attacked from every direction.

All this attention and speculation has been fun or whatever but American liberals need to get a fucking grip! Oprah is not the savior. She is not the change we seek.

I can speak to the accuracy of this and it is alarming. Human trafficking is a global problem and affects every region of the world. This goes against our sense of fundamental human rights as shared around literally every nation on earth. With that being said, there are countries around the world working on this particular issue right now including the United States which is putting pressure on the African Union to address this. Also, Human Rights organizations are all over this. Slavery has never gone away....

I used to be somewhat religious but I was destined for spirituality. I believe in the positive & negative energies of the universe and the laws of attraction. I come from a strong religious background. I knew it wasn't for me fully when I was 3 and saw my first person catch the holy ghost. Growing up I always wondered that if God moved in peace and tranquility, why are these people jumping up & down like demonic entities or natives around the campfire.

Do I believe in some higher power? Yes. Do I believe it is a white man with a blonde perm and ocean blue eyes? Nope. There's something out there pulling some strings somewhere though...Godly, alien...idk...even with what we know from Science...the way that things are "set up" seem to be almost perfect, like the craftmanship and creativity of a capable force of extreme power, diversity, however, not perfection...

Well, can you blame him? This country only respects two parties, Democrat and Republican. Independents and every other party only have voting power in the general election. So yes, he has entered the race as a Democrat.

Is Georgia a state where you have to declare the winning publicly? I know there are laws planned that will allow people to remain anonymous when claiming lottery winnings, but I think that to do that the state will take even more of the winnings. SMFH. ALL people should be able to claim their rightful winnings anonymously so sh@t like this does not happen and they can keep it quiet. I've read this twice - wish that I had not wasted my time. Wade deals in a concept with content. What is masculinity? She does not say. How are men (if we are allowed to use that term) supposed to think of themselves? As human? Is that the end of the discussion? The problem is that despite Wade's belief that the concept of masculinity can be eliminated as a category, the reality is that men will continue to exist. In some, if not many, cases a human will continue to act as a man, if indeed he is biologically a man. In those cases, how then do we categorize those acts?
Of course, my problem with this disappears if in fact I am wrong and that there are not biologically determined differences between a human human and a human human. This nomenclature starts to get confusing.

 

The problem is that once African countries gained political independence they didn't achieve economic or military independence. It seems little or no attempt was made to create strong political or economic institutions that were greater than any one man. It seems there was little or no attempt rapidly industrialize and create local wealth. The leaders of these created kleptocracies and made themselves and their families wealthy but left the vast bulk of people to live in poverty. Natural resources weren't put to use by African countries they simply continued the old colonial extraction model. So Africa was still under the control of European powers. The situation won't change until African leaders smarten up and industrialize. That doesn't seem to be happening. The Chinese are doing what Europeans did. They haven't figured it out yet. It's hard to be optimistic considering the circumstances.

The moment I being to question and my questions couldn't get answers (around the ages of 9-12) via bible study and sunday school...

Then I was like well let me fully read this thing (the bible) from cover to cover and couldn't get pass the constant contradictions and plot holes in the moral stories. I found out critical thinking, science and logic had to be turned off for me to accept faith and belief.

I choose to keep them turned on.

Note - The Book of Revelation is by far the best read in the bible. It easily rivals other fictional works like The Lord of the Rings, Narnia or Game of Thrones. You should smoke a blunt or get a glass of wine and curl up for an evening of fun reading.

 

I get where Colin is coming from but I personally don't agree with him. I get (don't agree) him not voting for a president. But that's not the only thing on a voting ballot. What about your candidates for US Senate, Gov, State Reps and Attorney General. More importantly what about your local city reps who are the ones who are responsible for the police. Or your Judges who determine the sentencing , bail etc, when someone is charged with a crime.

Or what about the California marijuana referendum that would directly impact African American arrested on marijuana drug charges. Not including the other referendum voted for in California include:

There was NO local candidates that support your vision Kaepernick? You could of at least voted for one of the referendum's at least. To me you kind of lose me if your trying to speak truth to power but you chose not to vote. For me you really can't complain and protest if you don't engage in the civic process. How can you speak when you refuse your seat at the table?

 

Change Jew to Black or Muslim and change Black Gay Man to White Gay Man and this not only would have been a more mainstream story but they would be facing hate crime charges.

 

@ColumbusGuy Yeah but hopefully Bernie's message will resonate for future elections. European countries are much poorer countries but they have federal mandatory paid vacation, paid childcare,free healthcare, free college education, and fair wages. We are really getting taken advantaged of. We are working our butts off our whole lives to basically fund the US military. We have a candidate that wants to bring fundamental change but gets written off because he's "unrealistic" and "old". Meanwhile black voters flock to Hillary just because her husband was the first U.S. President to actually acknowledge black people. Loyal to a fault..
