    An excerpt from the article: "Bringing it all together, Franklin said that he just wants all LGBT-identifying people to know that God is in their corner. "I mean, you want to talk about things that God gets at... pride and jealousy and envy and arrogance," he said. "But what we also see is God sending his son to save us all, because we were all... straight, gay or whatever, lost and in need of a savior, and there's room at the cross for all of us."

    The first thing I thought is that many churches are probably not having as many members as they used to. Bottom line = church is a business. They need people filling up the pews and tithing and providing offering.

    I'm tired of these so-called "Christians" feeling obligated to touch on everybody's situation but their own. i respect what Kirk is trying to say cause at the end of the day there's only one person who can judge and that's God, but on the other hand I don't need confirmation on something I already know. The more we stay out of other people's business the better. The church has became a place only for politics. When we start to reshape the thinking of what the church really is and bring it back to it's original context there won't be any need for other's to give their two-cents.

    I am glad he said that. I believe with him working in the black church and the music business he knows the contribution that black gays have made to the church and gospel music. He probably knows many gay singers and ministers. He is also probably reflecting on how the black church community treated Tonex (now called B Slade).

    I agree with @African King. Church is a business and now since we're living in more of a liberal non denominational time; they seem to need a way of getting more bodies in those seats.

    True, if you look at a recent survey a large group of people under 30 say they have no religion and don't go to church. A significant number of younger people have a negative view of religion so demographics are not on their side. If this keeps up in a generation or two Christianity in North America will be dead much like it is currently in Europe. I for think that is fantastic.
