My Movies/Documentaries that I have saved on my Hard Drive that I always go to include;
WEEKEND (I love this move SO SO MUCH!!!)
A SINGLE MAN ( Made by Tom Ford with Colin Firth as the lead)
FREE FALL or ''Freier Fall''2013( The German Film)
THE WAY HE LOOKS.
THE SEX OF THE ANGELS
THE NORMAL HEART
IN THE NAME OF(2013)
WE WERE HERE (Documentary)
FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO (Documentary)
Just about all of the better movies listed in this thread feature NSA hookups, down low men dating women, or sex on the first date...Yet most Squad Members turn their noses up at these in real life...
I find that foreign filmakers incorporate same-sex thems so much better than American films. (@Michael , I'm with you on the foreign films... the best)
Umm, which ones do you consider the better movies?
Here you go stirring the pot as usual lol. I also like horror movies, but I'm not going around slitting anyone's throat.
Short film/documentary Cowboy Forever.
Can watch here...
Man, I LOVED Weekend. I actually saw it in theaters. Some of those sex scenes got real lol
Mmm! I agree. I just thought it was a beautiful movie and I don't use the word beautiful often.
Before people just start posting every gay movie they've ever seen, remember that @sekou asked for films "that we as "masculine " gay community can one relate to that for one doesn't fall into the cliche route."
Might make for an interesting discussion to see what people think that even means...What makes a gay film relatable to a "masculine" gay audience and what makes a gay film cliched?
It would have to be those films that are about "regular" everyday guys can relate to. The MSM who blend in to society.. not trying to be overly masculine or feminine. Like the main character in "Cover" or the characters in "Rag Tag", DL Chronicles. These guys men do not fall in to the "gay cliche". Even the ex-husband in "Waiting to Exhale"... I like that they really didn't bash him place They have regular lives, regular jobs, regular bodies... they just be regular...lol.
As well, stories that relate to our own personal experiences with a positive spin, giving the regular guy hope.
Lol who is to say what masculine is though? I think that can be subjective.
That's why @sekou and I put it in quotes....What does it mean to you in regards to the question and gay films?
As far as what I would consider masculine...that's tough.
I think what this guy is saying in the video is what we mean by "masculine" gay films:
This show just disappeared like everything else on logo...
Stop playin! U know good n damn well what masculine is! Its the mofos who u like, n wana let climb ur back.
I'm so uneducated on these things it's not even funny. I think it would take a whole summer for me to finish these. I'll start looking up some plots though and check out a few.
Saw this one months ago at the cinema. I was thoroughly impressed. I found it interesting that it was the younger brother who displayed a more aggressive homophobia whilst the older masculine gay brother grappled with his sexuality with less prejudice. It's one of those layered films that remind you of how the road to acceptance isn't as clear as the usual: "mom I'm gay... cue tears...cue denial.. cue hugs... cue rainbows. The end."... It's more complex than that and I think for sgl men outside of the Western notion of "coming out" it was an important story that needed to be told.
I'm mad they took this off Netflix but I really enjoyed the Happy Sad it's about these two couples and how they sort of fall out and in of love again.
Just watched this gem last night on Amazon Prime. Great movie!
It's nice to see LGBT+ films with Asians in them as there certainly aren't many.
This doesn't exactly fall into an LGBT+ film, at least not to me, but the main character is gay...and trifling.
So I have been looking for New Gay films/Documentaries to watch. Most of them out there I have seen. So if anyone has any recommendations PLEASE share. Preferably ones from 2015-2016 and ones that show other minorities, I am tired of those 'White male' based ones,Thanks. I found this yesterday while searching:
I love this series
Hmm this could be interesting. I love your pic btw. I'm a huge Richie fan lol
Thank you. RICHIE IS EVERYTHING AND MOOOORE!!!
This was really good actually.
Appreciate yall for adding to this thread. So much good shit
It's funny/crazy that even though this was made a while back it is still relevant today. I do think its even gotten worse now and ppl down play its effect.
