    Me after watching this movie...

From Finn, Rey, Luke, Leia as Mary Poppins, MC Ren, the Skype Force, Snoke's death, Poe, featuring Yoda while a ship runs out of space movie gas...I thought this movie was complete bullshit.

-How Finn looked out of shape compared to the first movie? But he stay running and sweating and shit. And the frumpy Asian girl with down syndrome (Rose) was annoying as hell along with Finn. What the fuck was up with that Billy Dee Williams shirt he had on?

-How is Rey a super Jedi with no training. Like she's never been trained in combat but she knows how to fight and defeat Sith apprentices and Sith imperial guards? How the fuck can you train yourself to be a Jedi?

-So they couldn't have evacuated the ship earlier and drove it into the fleet hyper drive style while still possibly keeping their medical and other supply ships and escaping to the planet?

    -Really with Snoke's death?

    -Really with Luke's death?

-How is Kylo the bad guy hear again?

-Where was the Millennium Falcon after it fleed outta the crystal mines? You mean to tell me they didn't have enough time to swing back and attack Kylo's ship, the walkers or the canon?

-How were they being tracked exactly...what was the tracking device on the rebel ship and why couldn't they disconnect it from their end? I think I missed it because I was rolling my eyes too hard.

-The scenes on the planet looking for the code breaker with the kids and the racing horse animals....yawn.

-There are so many things I disliked about this movie including the editing.

-To me over all, this movie was not even as enjoyable or entertaining as Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

-I did like when Snoke popped Kylo with his Sith electro fingers of death.

-The hyper drive kamikaze into the Republic fleet scene was dope.

-The fight scene with Kylo, Rey and the Imperial guards was just ok. I just couldn't see them beating the guards as easily as they did.

-I can't understand how this movie is getting rave reviews as one of the best Star War films ever.

    I give it a 1.5 out of 5. $20 wasted.

Jumping to warp speed or whatever was how they were being tracked. That's why they couldn't get away. The F.O. wanted them to go to lightspeed again so they could pup up on them when they ran out of gas.

So far I've only given this one viewing, but I think I enjoyed this more than Force Awakens.I had a pretty good time with this one. There was less copy/pasting from old plots (less, but not completely free of),so that was a plus.

Luke's abandonment of the Jedi teachings was the thread I probably followed the closest.I liked his new viewpoint about everyone connecting to the Force in their own way .

I was hoping to find out where Snoke came from ,but oh well to that I guess.

If Kylo Ren is in charge,I hope we get to see more of that.I always hated how he and Vader were Snoke and Palpatine's stooges and errand boys.

The message (as I interpreted it ) about the empowerment of people without a special pedigree (Rey,the stable kid at the end) gives me hope that if they do this new series of films that I'm feeling very iffy about, maybe it won't be centered on the Skywalkers and the Death Star.

I thought the movie was entertaining. I’ve never been a Star Wars fan fanatic so all the little inconsistencies in the movie didn’t bother me. There were several scenes that definitely could have been cut since they went nowhere and the plot was kinda all over the place. I’ll add this was the funniest Star Wars movie I’ve seen. At times it’s seemed like the film was made to parody the franchise which might be why so many of the diehard fans hate it.
I’d say the goal of the film was to close the chapter on the Skywalker mythos (and maybe move beyond the whole Jedi mythology) and open the door to bring in new characters (e.g. future Jedi? stableboy)
Overall it was decent popcorn entertainment. 7/10

Why couldn't the First Order just light speed another one of their many ships in front of the Rebel fleet to surround them? The whole premise of watching a starship slowly running out of gas for 90 minutes was mind-numbing.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has opened up on his decision to display the Force powers of one General Leia Organa in the film.
In an interview with EW, Johnson credited Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy with planting the idea in his head, citing the scene in Return of the Jedi where Luke Skywalker tells Leia she’s his sister:

She kept asking, ‘Leia’s a Skywalker, Luke gave her this speech in Jedi and told her basically, ‘You have this potential, too.’ It seemed to me it would be a really emotionally impactful thing to see her use it. I liked the idea it would be an instinctual thing. This would be more like stories you hear about parents of toddlers who get caught under cars and they get Hulk strength and lift the car up. It would be something in these final moments to show that she’s not done with the fight. And like a drowning person pulling herself back, that’s how it manifests itself for the first time in her.”

Star Wars 9 Should End The Saga
Director Rian Johnson already brought the story of Luke Skywalker to a close in Episode VIII, with the last Jedi returning from a self-imposed exile to help his sister Leia at her time of need and confront his former apprentice Ben Solo/Kylo Ren. Carrie Fisher’s tragic death also raises a question as to whether Leia will appear in any fashion in Episode IX.

While Luke himself has become one with the Force and could appear as an apparition inEpisode IX, the thrust of the story is in the hands of trilogy’s young heroes Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron. In whatever form Rey’s ultimate confrontation with Kylo Ren will take place, this resolution should lead to the grand finale of the Skywalker Saga, especially if Kylo Ren, the last character possessing Skywalker blood (that we know of), dies at the end.

Star Wars will and should always contain themes of good fighting evil, but the galaxy has now endured decades of repeated wars with the Skywalker family at the center. The Clone Wars lasted three years, followed by over twenty years of the Empire ruling while the Rebel Alliance fought them tooth and nail. The First Order’s rise ignited a new war, and while it looks like evil is now dominant, there remains the spark of Rebellion aiming to bring down the First Order’s rule. This fight isn’t over.

But Episode IX should end it, somehow bringing down the First Order, and with it, the repetition of an evil, fascist military fighting an outmatched rebellion, along with the trope of the bad guys deploying evil planet-killing super weapons. Star Wars has been over-reliant on this form of storytelling. True, it’s right there in the title: ‘Star Wars‘, but once this saga concludes, there can be other stories set in this universe about other kinds of conflict.

Inevitably, a new saga will commence and it will surely be about an overpowering evil force taking on a plucky band of rebels. That formula is too ingrained in Star Wars‘ DNA – and per DJ’s worldview, all but inevitable in the canon. But for the sake of resolution, the Empire/First Order vs. Rebellion/Resistance conflict as we know it feels like it needs to be brought to a definitive close, at least for this generation. As Star Wars is ultimately about hope, good must triumph over evil and give the fans that all-important spark of inspiration to continue to carry our love of the franchise forward.

Star Wars won’t end. The Last Jedi‘s director Rian Johnson is poised to launch a new and unrelated trilogy in the years after Episode IX, and standalone stories like Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi continue apace. But these are exemplifying how things can grow and diversify from just being about the Skywalker brood.

I agree Leia's big moment should've gone somewhere more than it did.Like, maybe it could've restored someone else's faith in the Force ,or effected Kylo Ren's opinion of her strength or something. It needed follow through.

I'm actually more in favor of ending star wars then beginning a new trilogy and spin-offs.Less nostalgia pandering and death stars.Ep 8 (which I liked ) kinda gave me that ,but not enough to give me perfect faith in a new slate of films.

From what I'm hearing in reviews I've been watching, people are disappointed about Phasma's minimal role.Am I missing something? Was she hyped as being a bigger character?I avoided advertising as much as possible for this movie,so I'm seriously asking. Is this a Boba Fett thing where she has some inexplicable following?

I guess I missed Mark Hamill warning us about this film in advance. I actually kinda like his ideas on the way he saw the OT characters reuniting.

He's also right about it being out of character for him to not run to Leia and Han's aide once Kylo Ren breaks fully bad. If his knee-jerk instinct was to kill Ben Solo just for SUSPECTING a darkness, why would he not knee-jerk react once the darkness and danger was fully formed? He did so in both A New Hope, Empire and Return of the Jedi when his friends were in danger, so it would totally be within his character.

Another thing fans noticed, Mark Hamill may not have even known that Luke dies in this film. Based on interviews, he had conversations with the (now fired) director of Episode IX about ideas for Luke and loved them.

In this video, a fan shows Hamill's reaction right BEFORE seeing The Last Jedi at the premiere and then moments AFTER seeing the film. He looks shocked and saddened.

I can totally see how in the script, Luke probably survived and they digitally killed him off, possibly because he was so vocal in the press and an annoyance to them. He can still show up as a Force-Ghost, but def not the same.

But is there supposed to be one more film after this one? Then the new trilogy begins right?

Yeah, I thought I was just tired and that's why I didn't like the movie. Turns out it just sucked. A few of my critiques:

-The moment this shit really, REALLY went off the rails for me? Princess Leia getting blown out of her ship but then, a-la-Death Star, tractor-beaming back into the broken-down ship 30 minutes later... from fuckin outter space... like it was nothing at all. Did anyone know this chick could use The Force like that? Somewhere, Obiwan Kenobi is rolling around, wishing he could fly too. If she has superpowers and shit, why not stop from getting ur ass blown up in the first place? Why not just fly to another planet Wonder Woman? It was awful.

-Clunking, clanging dialogue. 99.9% of the attempts at comedy were completely overbaked, overthought and underexecuted.
-->eg 1: those squeaky animals? Kill them. All of them. I don't have a back yard to bury their bodies, so I'll just toss them in the Potomac, where all bad ideas go to die.
-->eg 2: Luke brushing his shoulders off? Like, I love Obama and all, but that meme died 1000 deaths after he deployed it against Hillary in 2008. Just sayin. People laughed, my eyeballs rolled. It was whack as fuuuuuuck.

-Someone needs to blow up the damn Millennium Falcon already. In fact, I volunteer as tribute. Seriously, how is this one ship, this one ship, ALWAYS saving the day?

-I did like the Rey/Kylo Ren "we're mentally connected/let's bone" thing. I was secretly hoping a good boning would turn Rey evil. Instead she, like an imbecile, didn't bone anyone, went to Kylo Ren and somehow survived a battle with imperial guards. Because lack of training is a virtue in our Trumpified world.

-Finn. Seriously? Why is he a bumbling fool throughout? And how did he not dodge that Rose-mouth-peck situation? I certainly would have! Rey is sooooo much hotter than that Rose character. Also, they named the black dude Finn. FINN. Why not go all the way and name him Zachary?

-The vice admiral chick was so, so, achingly earnest and ineffectual that I wanted her to die. Then she did so in a blaze of glory. I was hoping she would die after an unfortunate fall down the stairs.

Overall, a too-long movie that took itself waaaay too seriously, and in the process, made itself completely indigestible.

Yeah, @Infinite_loop, @OckyDub y'all were right on this. It pains my soul to admit it lol

I don't really like this movie compared to the Force Awakens. I cant really but my finger on why I don't like it:patrice:

I think that they prob should had JJ Abrams signed a contract agreeing to do all the movies in the trilogy. Like how are u doing a trilogy having 3 different directors not sure that make sense. Thats what ppl see it in the film. Its not going to flow right because each director does a different take :snoop:

Even though I like the movie, I feel like extra sources and faith in a follow up is not a stable defense. In fact, it's one of my most scoffed at excuses when DCEU fans try to use it.

I just got back from seeing the movie; I'll be the dissenter. That movie made me soo emotional. I was literally tearing the fuck up at multiple moments. As a die-hard fan, I very much so enjoyed it.

I did have three issues with it though:

    1. There is no fire in space and ships shouldn't be falling out of the air, in space. Among defiling other laws of physics.

    2. I really wish they wouldn't have had Leia come back alive in space; that whole scene shouldn't even had been thought of. The force just doesn't work like that.

    3. It was too cheesy at some points - it had Disney written all over it. To this point, I do understand why though. The old movies weren't made for children and Disney is trying to move the franchise towards a more family-friendly, all-inclusive place. Make that money Disney, but don't let it make you.

Overall, story line was decent (predictable at times though), the visuals were amazing (loved the jump in and out of lightspeed), definitely plot holes but not unbearable. I'd honestly give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

I think the big issue is that folks are looking for the same feels they get with the original trilogy. You'll be disappointed every time. When has anything ever seriously been better than the original; m.ke peace it and you'll be alright.
