i can't wait. Im predicting Oscar for Viola Davis

 

This looks good. Hopefully the film is as good as this Trailer. May be the year a black man and woman win Best Actor and Actress!!

 

This is so interesting. The first clip presents a seriousness the second clip shows that we don't like to feel that comfortableness of that scene so we laugh to soften our reaction. I think James Earl and Denzel represents two different generations of black men and it is telling in their command of the scenes.

 

i have not been so exited for three black movies in like ever... but this year: Almost Christmas, The Birth of A Nation and Fences! Finally - no medea bullshit - something quality and worth my mofo $13.00!

Oh, my bad. Monster's Ball and Training Day won in the same year? Anyway, with all of the Oscars So White controversy, hopefully, there will be some real contenders this go round.

 

I also wonder if it has something to do with time between the two plays. By time I meant the original audience and an audience of today. The original play was in the 80's and the reboot was in 2010.

It could be the 80's audience and climate took plays very serious and were more sophisticated when it comes to art where as an audience of 2010 (and maybe a large black audience) view everything as a joke in the light of madea plays and not being as serious to art.

 

As much as I love Denzel. To me he's one of the greatest black actors ever.

This movie was god awful boring and kinda harsh for me.

I'm not saying it was a bad movie, it wasn't. It was just boring.

There were some moments I liked though. The scenes where he is abusing both of his sons are just too much for me, and kinda really made you feel his character.

But honestly, it just kinda dragged on in a sad way for me.
