Makes me think that Catholiscism wasn't so bad. We went only on Sunday, listened to a few fairy tales, had a mini therapy session by unburdening our weeks sins in confession, had a little wine and a wafer, did some aerobics with the constant up and down and kneeling, the best part was in and out in 40 minutes.

 

What in the Jesus H. Christ??? This isnt church this is witchcraft or just terrible acting!

I wasn't going to respond because I think everyone on CA knows how much I despise religion, especially Christianity, Judaism, and islam

Does Buddhism count as a religion or more of a philosophy?

 

Philosophy I feel is a part of every religion but yes Buddhism is definitely a religion IMO. Some people take the morals, values, philosophies or whatever from Buddhism, Taoism, etc and just call it "a way of life"

 

See this is why it was good to have white parents back in the day. I did not want to go to church(it sucked and I wanted to sleep in) and when they made me go I would act up, glare at people, curse, etc. and raise hell. Of course I got the belt when we got home. But I did not care. It kept up and I fought back when hit and eventually got hit in the face with the belt buckle. Then it was all 'what are people going to think?' since everyone knew everyone including teachers and parents(my dad golfed with the principal and my mother was in the same bowling league as his wife)...I wore them down... the sheer effort, embarrassment, and the fear of people thinking they might be 'abusing' me was just too much. I would not give up and just acted even worse when forced to be at that church...not to mention the trouble involved in getting me there.

...eventually they just said 'Fine! stay home' and got a babysitter...but they got tired of that and eventually they stopped going all together and all we had to listen to was my father give an occasional sermonette about how we were all heathens. And the church we had been going to was nothing as crazy as this crazy shit in this video. Just mind-numbingly boring sermons and total silence except for (terrible) hymn singing.

And that is how my brothers and I got out of going to church in white suburbia in the seventies.
