Any screenwriters out there? What are you currently working on (bare bones). You don't have to give your entire plot away. I'm working on three screenplays I'm adapting from my longer works. Of course all of them fall into the realm of speculative Fiction (sciene fantasy) The Dragon Warriors. ( This one I actually did an obscure film for as a class project in a Humanities course... Embarrassing..lol) *NOT POSTING PICS OF IT...TO EMBARRASSING...LOL* Arabian Rapshody: Black/Muslim version of a fantasy adventure. Power. Supernatural- Science Fanatsy. Just a little peak at the first page.
Beginner screenwriter, here. Still very green and familiarizing myself with a technique that had been completely foreign to me up until this year. I've always been more of a short story/spoken word writer, but I'd love to write more for television/digital content with characters I've been developing.
Cool deal. I'm more of a novelist but my novels to me seem like long treatments. Screenwriting can be a beast and has it's own set of formatting rules that can cause an eyeroll but are required. It's good you are taking the screen Writing mantle. There needs to be a new era of writing that overshadows these current rehashed tropes that plague Hollywood. Sure, nothing is completely original but something fresh needs to be out. I am looking into breaking the mold slightly. Technically, I want to focus on Digital TV content since Netflix has turned into a powerhouse and they also have a wide niche for people with different interests and my specific genre too. What would your genre be? Who do you want to speak to? Who would you sell your screenplay to? Netflix seems edgier and I like that. I'm thinking a Strange Things, X-Files mismash..ST would not be a proper example but it's close. Amazon Studios seems more family oriented....but they will.accept screenplays if you make an account and submit them. Most of my things seem to slide on the higher end of PG-13 to R but I still involve children.
