Cypher Avenue favorite “12 Years A Slave” won BEST PICTURE at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, confirming how we felt about this amazing film. While the epic drama wasn’t named our BEST FILM OF 2013, it definitely came a close second and lead actor Chewitel Ejiofor was named our BEST ACTOR OF 2013 for his riveting performance in the film.
If you haven’t seen the film yet you should do so as soon as possibe once it’s released on Blu-Ray and DVD. Its an emotional true tale of a free man named Soloman Northup who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. We previously raved about the film in our sixth Cypher Avenue podcast.
Congrats to the cast and crew of “12 Years A Slave” for making such an amazing film!

I haven’t seen it. I’m going to get around to it.
great movie and Nick was right, it made me want to go attack some white people afterwards.
I saw it, and while it was a good film, Im still over black films only getting the green light if it’s about slavery/civil rights. Call me crazy, but I was much happier about The Best Man Holiday, since it was one of those way too rare occasions where black people were portrayed as contemporary people who get up and go to work, eat, get stressed out, and do it all over again the next day…like Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper in _____________ (pick one).
