I should have known the latest animated Justice League movie from Warner Brothers was going to be a unique one when part of the opening dialog from a villain during a battle sequence was “you’re the bottom and I’m the top”. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
in my opinion is one of the best Justice League animated films to come out yet. Its PG-13 rating is accurate and I stress, this movie is not for kids. Be warned: this is a grown up, dark, violent, blood filled Justice League and I loved it.
When the Flash awakens and gets ready to start his day, he can since something is different. In this “current” world, his mother is alive and his is gay. Something has caused ripples in the time stream and in turn has created an alternate reality. In this different reality the kingdom of Themiscyra led by its queen Wonder Woman is in a fierce bloody battle with the kingdom of Atlantis, led by its king Aquaman. Their war has already destroyed Europe, the United States is concerned that the battle will eventually reach North America. President Obama entrusts America’s best soldier Cyborg to seek the expertise of Batman (The Dark Knight) to come up with a strategy to end the war. The Flash, Cyborg and Batman must work together to end the war and correct the time stream.
Flashpoint has an extremely diverse cast. Not just with its main cast but also with its supporting cast. There is a long list of superpower characters and surprisingly many die throughout the film. Flashpoint has some pretty intense violent action sequences. Just think this Batman is really The Dark Knight and I had plenty of “OH SHIT” moments when viewing. In typical DC/Warner Brothers fashion the voice acting and animation is top notch; however the anime style of animation may be off putting for some.
With its adult themes, (adultery, jealously, government secrets, etc.) DC/Warner Brothers set out to make an animated movie for grown-ups. I must admit, I was not as entertained as with watching Superman/Batman: Apocalypse(the best). I do feel that the animation in that film was better. Also the ending to Flashpoint is kind of lack luster but the ride was still exciting and very entertaining. It makes me wonder could this be a test run for a Flash live action movie. This is a must see for any DC Justice League fans and I highly recommend it!
Check out the pics below and also the fight scene clip between Yo-Yo and Batman (the real Dark Knight…lol).

I’m mixed on the DC films. I liked the Green lantern, Wonder Woman, Batman/Superman: Most wanted, Doomsday, and I liked the one where they had to find the origin earth or something. I hated the one where there was like a giant dinosaur island coming to take over the world or something. That was just weird. I guess I’m not a mixed bag since there’s only one I’ve seen and didn’t like…but I really didn’t like that one. I’ll have to check this one out.
Wonder Woman was the best! I’m mad they cancelled the sequel!
It’s about damn time you guys reviewed this film. It was epic! My only gripe was the way Wonder Woman’s face was drawn. Other than that, it was visual lust! Loved every minute! 🙂
I hated the way the whole animation way setup, really. It’s too predated, and in my opinion, I think Justice League Crisis On Two Earths was better drawn and animated than this.
I loved it!!!!! no further comment!!!
I just finished this movie via pirated stream and CHILE! It was beyond good. My only gripe with this movie was the way the animation was setup, which is very predated. It almost looks like a 90’s cartoon the way they’re all drawn up. But I see Justice League Doom was set up the same way. Bummer. Even though Doom is good, the animation can be a distraction at times. But the strong storyline is still there! Crisis On Two Earths is more my visual style when I look at animated cartoons. I just hope Justice League War will the same styling as Crisis On Two Earths instead of The FlashPoint Paradox/Doom.
Any Who. CypherAvenue, you unfortunately have one thing wrong in this article that wasn’t confirmed in the movie, and that is Flash being gay. Although the mother mentions it, it was never confirmed by Flash himself since he didn’t remember anything about being gay at the time he was speaking to her. Although my intuition tells me he was, I think DC chickened out of showing his possible boyfriend since their comics is very… Well… I think Marvel will quicker do a gay cartoon or movie character than DC Comics.
But this movie was very dark. The darkest I ever saw DC Comics go.
I liked the movie…I don’t think it was the best that DC Animated films has done. The storyline was mad interesting, but you had to really pay attention to it and analyze in order to get it. I even had to rewind a couple of times just to make sure I heard everything right. Justice League Doom and Crisis on Two Worlds were better, but this one was pretty good. I’m ready for Justice League War. I hope that one is going to be off the chain!
For Tyrese sanders, I don’t think that DC dealt with anything else surrounding Flash/Barry being gay because I think it was implied. He planned to tell his mom that he was a superhero and she took it as he was going to come out of the closet. That is why he was surprised when she said “That your gay…I still love you” (or whatever she said). That was one thing I had to rewind…lol.
P.S. I miss Young Justice like a dope fiend on Tuesday…
