Haven’t gotten through all of it yet, but it’s already really interesting. I would love to see more “slice of life” style articles/podcasts like this, it really gives you some insight into pretty unique experiences.
A Chinese listener here. Very interesting podcast.
Interesting podcast. All I have to say to both Ocky and Nick is you have to get out more!
This is an amazing podcast. I think that having experiences like @acessential are once in a lifetime and something he will NEVER FORGET. I know that I did spend almost one year in the Caribbean at 5 different islands. I was actually surprised to see so many openly gay (mostly) white men in St. Maarten, West Indies. During early to mid-late December last year, there were cruise ships full of gay men coming in and out of the port. No one really paid them any mind.
Also, I remember being in Dominica (not the Dominican Republic), West Indies and there was a group of effeminate gay white men who were being threatened by native Dominicans. It can be on two different spectrums.
I also do agree that black people can really limit themselves by staying in their cities, boroughs, etc and never spreading their wings to try something new. Not speaking on all black people but it is something we need to work on. I was on vacation down there during a break from school and I did all these things I grew up being told that only white people do. I went kayaking, hiking and so many other activities that I really enjoyed. I took hundreds of pictures and really enjoyed myself.
I really do hope to travel the world and experience other parts in South America, Asia, Australia & Europe. I’ve been to U.S., Africa, and the Caribbean.
cool podcast, I like the interview and kinda gave a different look on life in China… also was fun and funny.
you guys should do more with other’s of CA that have a interesting story or point of view.
I enjoyed doing this. Thanks for having me again.
This podcast was great!
I’m not too sure about the constant Chinese stereotypes that they constantly kept bringing up. But honestly I couldn’t stop laughing, so i can’t talk. LOL
This was the perfect Podcast for me. For the last 18 months I been attending graduate school where I am going to receive my Masters in Diplomacy in about 12 weeks. I received the bug of travelling the world in my undergrad when I accepted an internship at the United States Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland and spent the next year experiencing Europe…alone.
In my experience, I think that there are a considerable number of black Americans pursing International Relations because the opportunities are vast for people of color and minorities to work and represent America.
I encourage people to think about going into the US Foreign Service (which is what I am doing) and you can travel the world.

Lastly, the United States State Department is one of the most LGBT friendly departments in the entire federal government.
This was dope! Good on un@acessential
Very kool Podcast.
I figured you guys were Morehouse alumnus …. I have so many good Morehouse gay jokes but won’t make any on your platform lol. But I love dating Morehouse men, if any see this that are over 25, available, and in Texas please reply lol.
My favorite Morehouse Joke is You can always tell a Morehouse Man but you can tell a Morehouse Man much.
Great podcast. I agree that more people need to step outside the country (even if it’s just to Canada.) There’s so much more to the world and, having spent my early years in Italy, it definitely gives you a different perspective on life and the world.
