Here’s How Much Models Make To Film Bareback Black Gay Porn…Is It Worth It?

By Nick Delmacy | Posted Aug 20 2018 | 16 Comments

**Editor’s Note: There is no nudity in this article so it’s (relatively) safe for work**

Not to judge the men who do porn, God bless them because Lord knows I uh…”appreciate” their work. However I’ve always wondered exactly how much these men get paid to appear in studio porn, especially the porn that features bareback and raw sex.

Nowadays there are venues, like ConnectPal and OnlyFans, for “models” and performers to collect donations directly from their fans, but the gold standard for Porn Stars is still the studio system.

Not only do studios typically have better quality productions, they purport to be very strict on regular HIV and STI testing for their performers. While there are definitely exceptions to the rule, the vast majority of pornography companies adhere to these requirements, especially in states like California where it is the law to do so.

Do these regulations also apply to the Gay Porn Studios? An even better question than that is do these regulations apply to the BLACK Gay Porn Studios?

There have been a few interviews with Black gay porn performers in the past featured on YouTube and other sites that have made me believe the answer to that aforementioned question is, “No.” But I have no solid evidence one way or another.

Here’s what Black Rayne Productions, the studio that produces the bareback gay porn called “BREED IT RAW” featuring heavily tattooed and muscular men, says on their website about the testing:

Notice the ALL-CAPS Bold print at the bottom: **THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY. YOU DON’T TEST – YOU DON’T SHOOT!**

Does that disclaimer make you feel warm, fuzzy and safe?

If so, here’s what you can expect to get paid from Black Rayne Productions for appearing in their videos as a newcomer:

Considering that the shoots probably last from one to three hours (or longer depending on how many scenes are being filmed and how elaborate they are), does this compensation seem worth it to appear in Bareback Gay Porn?

If you’re sexy, young and needing quick cash, this may seem very tempting.

I will add that just 4 years ago there was what the CDC (Centers For Disease Control) called the “first well-documented” case of an Adult Gay Porn Performer infecting 2 other performers with HIV despite testing negative himself less than a month before.

According to researchers, in 2014 a 25-year-old gay porn actor, “Patient A” in the report, tested negative for HIV and over the next 22 days had unprotected sex with 17 others. The next HIV test came back positive and further testing showed he’d transmitted the virus to two men, one of whom was another adult film performer.

Granted, this may be an outlier…an exception to the rule.

I mean, we’re talking about $350 for your first shoot. That could buy a lot of new tattoos.

Also, in fairness, 2014 was before HIV prevention drugs like Prep and Truvada became much more common and pervasive in the gay community.

So…is potentially making your entire rent for the month in just one day of filming Breed it Raw bareback sex worth it?

    2015? See…

With prep and 99% of porn being bareback, I have a hard time believing there's a dutiful receptionist at the BIR office making record keeping their top priority. But what do I know…

    I completely misread this earlier.

I knew a dude whose professional career was (unsurprisingly) pretty much curtains after he did porn. This was quite a few years ago, and idk how much he got paid, but I know it didnt match the lost wages.

I appreciate the hell outta their work. As long as they’re safe and responsible for their health I would never judge anyone.

Yeah, I don’t know too many who survive that and go on to a thriving career (offhand, I can only think of Sylvester Stallone and Vanessa Williams).

The Party at Kitty and Stud's – Wikipedia

And let’s say you’re 25 or 30 yo. You bareback for $350, unfortunately get HIV (cause, like you said, you know these companies aren’t vigilant and meticulous about records), that $350 won’t pay for more than a month or two of the meds you’ll need for a lifetime. And it’s not like there are insurance plans or medical advocacy groups for these black exploited performers.

I just don’t understand a mentality that says porn (which is make believe sex to the viewer) or real life sex is diminished or ruined by condoms.

Prep isn't cheap if you don't have insurance. $1 to $60 a pill is the price range. I get mine for free with insurance.

$350 that's some sad compensation, sadder still ignoring the voyeurs, so many dudes desperate enough to be tempted by so little…, Porn actors become the focus of our greater societies collective secrets and desires, it is a sin for which the actors can't be forgiven. Its embarrassing collective bestial needs satisfied, our sexual wing nut of a society heaps its own internal derision and self loathing out upon them, pathetic. The way they are compensated and treated by the very people who ravenously consume their product is criminal…pathetic…. its says lots more about "us" than the actors.

Thank you for sharing this vital info bro!

In addition to the cost, folk need to remember the lab work costs too as you’ll need to be tested every through months. I was given my prescription by my VA doctor but I have civilian insurance that covers my visits. The labs were about $100. Not sure what, or when, the copay bill will be but an MD friend of mine (who also is on prep) said to expect about a $120 copay average depending on insurance plan.

Since the Tenofovir patent is expired, and the Emtricitabine patent expires in 2021, maybe there will eventually be a generic equivalent within a few years?

I'm actually curious about this lol like compare other companies rates. like what does dawgpound/papithugz make compared to nextdoorebony or mundo mais (brazil) or even straight ones like black.com. I remember hearing that boxer that got exposed say he was paid 5k for doing dawgpound. So from my understanding BIR and Flava are on the lower end of the pay scale.

On the testing thing. I remember Ace Rockwood in an interview say he knew what companies tested and those that did not. Said if you notice he doesn't do that many scenes with companies that don't test.

Its all about negotiating. But even novice "models" should be getting at least a couple of grand. I mean if u going to do the damn thing at least make sure u getting a couple of stacks.

I think anyone in porn has to be brave or not thinking through. In today's world of social media and the fact that nowadays companies can google you before they hire you, you could be putting any chance of having a certain profession thrown out the window. Trust me, I am not judging. I just think if you have aspirations outside of porn such as being in the corporate world or political aspirations, you really have to think about this before you do it. Cause once its out there, its out there and you can't take it back.

This whole thread is so adorable. Listen squad, the vast majority of us on here are responsible, educated, and professional gay men who may be conservative in are general views of sex-etc, but play with a bit of our rachet side on the weekends or with a special date. Im sure many of us have options in a variety of other industries and/or just general respect for our bodies and our morality to not take unnecessary risk.

Do you guys honestly think these porn actors (esp the black ones) give 2 fucks about HIV status?

That whole Breed It Raw company for example, all that disclaimer shit is just paperwork. They have ways around all that shit. These are grown men who I'm pretty sure fuck raw on the weekends after the club anyway.

They probably figure, "Shit, I fuck every day raw and twice on the weekend, why not get a few bucks doing it"?

Porn is fun and we all enjoy it, but the LAST thing I think about when I see any of these male porn actors is someone who thinks responsibly, long term, and cares about their reputation or health well being.

In fact, I assume they are all positive off the jump. And if their not, they will be in a short minute. I mean come on lets be real.

These men fuck the way they want, as often as they want, get the little money they can for doing something they love, and go to the clinic later to get their medication and REPEAT.

In addition (to answer the thread question). Of course that money isn't worth doing porn. Raw or safe.

But for the young, black, tatted porn guys with big dicks and good ass, if they are smart they would do what the European porn men do.

The money isn't in the porn itself, its in ESCORTING.

Unless you develop your own company like Tim Kruger, you need to use the porn as a marketing tool. Sort of a display on your fuck game, how big your dick is and what you are capable of doing with said dick. Once thats established you sale yourself and charge the lonely men who dream of fucking you every night $500 – $1000 for an experience. You can charge that amount because not only do you have the goods, they also look at you as a celebrity because you are a "Porn Star". Other escorts that dont do porn cant charge that.

So think about it, if you had just two clients a week, that'll be around $2000 for a week of "work". And then you would probably have another studio film in the works and other clients booking for future private "dates".

I would imagine the young, black porn dudes think way too small. Your reputation and image is pretty much done after you start taking cum up your butt or putting it in someone else. So if your gonna be a sex worker, be a sex GOD with the money and business model to match.

That's peanuts and if those guys are willing to perform at that rate and health risk exposure then they don't want a whole lot, unfortunately. Know your worth in all caps and highlighted. Lastly, who is that pumped up chocolate bar above with the faux fur blanket? I don't Stan but….. #@$!% Very nice choice @NickDelmacy
He is the grand prize winner for sure.

I think the main point everyone is missing here is that most of these pornstars aren't looking to get rich from porn. My belief is that they are using porn to obtain the necessary notoriety to parlay into club appearances and escorting. I'm sure a "famous" escort can charge substantially more from the average joe blow down the block. Also, well known strippers and pornstars get top dollar for club appearances. Porn is becoming the jumping off point.
