As we fans prepare for the fourth season finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones, we’re bracing for the fact that it will be at least 7-8 months before we see another new episode.
For all those thirsty for more tales set in author George R.R. Martin’s fictional world of Westeros, here are 3 videos detailing the entire history of Game of Thrones that took place before the show began.
These animated addendum vignettes are an hour long each and feature voice overs by cast members of the show telling the stories in-character, with their own biased points of view.
We get the history of the First Men, the initial battle with the White Walkers, the origin of the religions, Robert Baratheon’s rebellion and even Aegon “The Conquer” Targaryen’s rise to power while riding his dragon, Balerion the Black Dread (seen in the first illustration above from the upcoming book, “The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones”).
For those looking for more insight into the fictional world of the show (without the fear of seeing spoilers for future episodes), this is perfect. These videos, originally included on the bluray releases of the HBO show, feel like 3 extra episodes added to the 10 episode season we’re about to see concluded.

I used to jokingly call people who watched “Game of Thrones”, “Dungeons and Dragons Dorks” before I understood what all the “hoopla” was all about. This year I got into “GOT” and my friends now say I am a “D&D Dork!”
I cannot believe I just sat here for over 60 minutes looking at the first season of the “GOT” HISTORY?!?
