It’s pretty good directing when a story can be told with little words but more so with body language. Goldstar not only accomplishes this but also presents us with two Black non-heterosexual masculine leaning men. One even has a regular body (yeah his booty is looking plump in them blue shorts but still). From the brief dialogue it seems Craig went ghost in attempts to escape his sexuality. Unfortunately once again for some reason stories that feature Black men can’t escape the DL trope. Nonetheless, Goldstar is a good super-short film with decent cinematography and audio which is something most Black gay short films / web series struggle to accomplish.

I’ve watched this short five times over the last couple of months and enjoyed each viewing. It is interesting how we will run from what is in our best interest because other people may not see it as we do.
I liked! Thanks for putting us on. Although it was super short, the story told was tense and heartbreaking.
The dark skin just ghosted his homie and thought he was gone pop back up on the scene married with a kid on the way and think everything was cool…nah bro lol.
I wonder if he’s truly happy in his married life or whether he caved due to societal pressures.
It was a good short with a good perspective with a good end…the kiss goodbye. No need to ask questions about "us" and feeling doubt about your worthiness and why you weren't enough. It was an experience. He's movin forward like he did. Echa pa'lante, mano. You can't get more savage and honest than that yo.
Thanks for sharing.
I'll just be glad when we finally see black, gay, masculine leaning, men that love each other completely unapologetically, certain and confident in who they are with zero pretense or aggressive bravado that signifies a battle with their sexuality in which their uncomfortable facing. FUCK!!!!
