I love his views on why people perceive masculine as a bad thing. You guys do get lumped into the DL category. I used to do it subconsciously.
DJ Baker has great taste. Xavier is the only reason to watch Free Fall.
I definitely liked this podcast, not that I haven’t enjoyed the others. I hadn’t heard of DJ Baker’s show before either, so thanks for bringing that to my attention. And it was nice to have the breakdown too, even though I didn’t skip around.
This was a great interview! Very conversational and informative. Good Job.
I gotta admit that I was hesitant to listen to this interview b/c Nick was riding solo. I like Nick and Ocky together on the podcasts but man this interview was great. I’m glad you guys explored all these topics and talked about so much. I think that I will look into DJ BAKER’s show now! Seems like he will be entertaining!
Great conversation @nick
I don’t know who that guy is but I didn’t get “masculine” from him during this interview. Is he serious? I guess our perception of ourselves is often a deception. *shrugs*
I really enjoyed this interview @nick. What I liked most was how you guys discussed the fact that many in the gay community feel obligated to constantly praise gay short films and web series instead of offering constructive criticism so that we can see better quality work. I really have given up on watching gay web series for the most part and even short films. I’ve seen so many bad examples in the past I don’t feel compelled to watch anything else. And if I do watch something I really have to force myself to watch it.
And I totally agree with the reason you guys stated why so many gay folks are afraid to criticize gay film content. This feeling of oppression that several gay men act on needs to end. When people are afraid to give negative criticism because they don’t want to offend or hurt the creators’ feelings this really does more harm than good. This mentality that we constantly have to uplift each other because everyone around us will always put us down is absurd. I actually find it hard to believe that even when they praise these short films that they actually are enjoying what they see. Like really stop the BS and say how you really feel! I’m looking forward to listening to the most recent podcast, can’t wait!
