PictureEverette “E.” Lynn Harris (June 20, 1955 – July 23, 2009)

Openly gay, he was best known for his depictions of African American men who were on the down-low and closeted. He authored ten consecutive books to make The New York Times Best Seller list making him among the most successful African American or gay authors of his era.

I remember when I first read “Invisible Life“. I was amazed that I was actually reading a novel with black homosexual and bisexual characters that I could relate to.  One could only have written such a novel by having experienced some aspects this life first hand.  I recall the eager anticipation for “Just As I Am” and reading cover to cover as soon as I got my hands on it.

Thank you Mr. Harris for your entertaining and liberating novels through out your years!
