TMZ is reporting that Empire actor Jussie Smollett was vicously attacked by 2 white men, who addition to beating him, put a noose around his neck.
According to TMZ:
…the actor arrived in Chicago from New York late Monday, and at around 2 AM he was hungry and went to a Subway. We’re told when he walked out, someone yelled, “Aren’t you that f***ot ‘Empire’ n***er?”
The 2 men — both white and wearing ski masks — viciously attacked Jussie as he fought back, but they beat him badly and fractured a rib. They put a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him and as they left they yelled, “This is MAGA country.”
Jussie was taken to Northwestern Memorial where he was treated. He was discharged later Tuesday morning.
This comes days after a letter was sent to Fox Studios in Chicago to Smollett stating “You will die black fag”.
Law enforcement sources tell us Chicago PD is investigating the incident as a battery and the police tell us they are treating the incident as a possible hate crime.
What I found interesting is that earlier when news agencies were reporting on this issue, the headlines were stating ‘Homophobic Attack’ as if his race was not apart of the equation or speaking as if his Blackness was secondary. Since many have been updated or new reports simply say “hate crime”.
What I also find peculiar about the situation; were his assailants stalking him? How would they know where he would be around 2 AM and they just happen to have ski masks on tap ready to use them? I’m anxious to get more details because in Trump’s America, this will be called a hoax or fake news.

The Chicago Police Department has reportedly released a statement denying claims of MAGA involvement and are not committed to confirming the assailants’ race at this time.
“According to the victim, the offenders’ faces were concealed,” a police spokesperson told Reason.com. “We have no record indicating that [they shouted ‘MAGA’], we only have record of them shouting racial and homophobic slurs at him.”
The incident is still currently under investigation.
“We have no record of The MAGA Country comment,” added the police spokesperson. “We have racial and homophobic comments documented.”
This whole thing is crazy to me. Where were the other ppl? Were they really stalking him to have bleach and rope on the ready? Was he the 1st solo blk person they ran up on?
So this is the kind of place America is? Also, this sounds like a setup to me or something.

Warning, what follows is pure speculation and is likely as not to have no basis in reality. The whole thing sounds like some kind of hit to me. Most murders and domestic violence incidents are committed by the ones we "love". That's just general stats and may or may not apply in this case. Thing is, if I was a low life jealous type and that sexy good hair brotha dumped or dissed me in some "unforgivable" way finding a couple a Chicago thugs to beat the shit outta him like this would be a great way to throw any suspicious peeps off my trail. When I see a crime especially a violent one, my motive detector automatically goes to….Sex, Money and Politics in that order. Follow that line back and you will reel in the responsible parties. The notable exception are the random serial killer psychopaths but they don't seem in play here.
The part that really gets me is the letter. They wrote some of the words, but then for only part of the letter used anonymous letters cut from magazines. The whole thing looks like a movie prop from Mission Impossible. I don't claim to know what it all means but it has to me, that threatening letter has an air of a carefully sculptured artistic production.

Okay…Lee did it.
The Chicago news showed the actual location where the attack took place and it looks sketchy as hell. It's on a poorly lit street directly underneath the "L" train tracks. Most locals probably wouldn't be caught dead there after dark.
It brings to mind when Zac Efron had an incident that took place in L.A.'s Skid Row at 3am all by himself.
The fact that some celebrities venture into these sketchy parts of the city in the middle of the night almost always has a darker motive on the part of the celebrity for going there in the first place. Like Squad member Thane pointed out, these motives do tend to center around sex, money and politics. I'm really hoping that this is not the case for Jussie.
Still and all, I do wish Jussie a speedy recovery and that justice is served to his attackers.

Chicago police are investigating the attack on Smollett, who had been threatened before his arrival in the Windy City. A note sent to Fox’s Chicago studio, according to TMZ, warned, “You will die, black f****r.” But the pro-Trump Reddit page The Donald is full of Trump supporters who insist that Smollett is lying.
One of the Trumpistas on The Donald posted that Smollett “got mugged and is trying to turn himself into a race martyr.” And another described the attack as “another phony hate crime.”
Far-right columnist Michelle Malkin, in a January 30 piece for Creators Syndicate, asserted that she was “skeptical” because descriptions of the attack on Smollett are full of “oddities and discrepancies.” And she believes that media accounts of the attack have all the signs of “manufactured ‘news’” and “smears first, facts later.”

He probably has a fruit phone so I'd just go to iTunes Back it up. Restore backup to another phone. Remove all apps and only leave the call log and text messages from the 4 hour window before assault and give them that phone.
One of my friends mentioned that cell data from him and the manager could help pin down exactly when/where the attack happened. Detectives don't just take the victims word, they need as much evidence as possible, especially when it comes to prosecution and trial of the attackers.
Jussie not turning over his phone is mad sus…especially given the speculation us amateur sleuths have had in this thread alone, and we're all inclined to believe him.
If a MAGA white boy said that 2 Black Lives Matter folks beat and poured bleach on him while he was talking on the phone, yet he refused to hand over his phone to help with the case…every writer at The Root would be raising eyebrows as well.

In the meantime his privacy has been violated all because he's a celebrity in a society that is fascinated while seemingly equally disgusted with male homosexuality.
If I was him, under no circumstances would I give them my phone; that holds all of my information that's not associated with this incident. You will have the phone records in 24-48 hrs sirs/maims – good day.
I'm eager to learn some additional details as well but not at the expense of someone being forced to give up privacy.

That being said, Smollett is biracial. He probably has all kinds of black authenticity psychology issues in his head and no real experience with the type of shit Inner city Chicago black People experience. Like a biracial Pinocchio, the fib allowed him to say, “I’m a REAL black boy!” Anybody here at CA understands that black people go through enough shit in America WITHOUT having to pull a Brawley to heighten the narrative. Hell, no sooner did Smollett get charged and the FBI picks up a REAL MAGA white terrorist working at Coast Guard HQ in DC plotting to kill congressmen.
So yeah, Smollett gets what he deserves and owes Chicago taxpayers money. But his moronic stunt still is a pittance compared to the tens and hundreds of millions of dollars of damage that CPD itself has and continues to rain on black folk and Chicago taxpayers through THEIR OWN fucking criminality (**cough**cough**Burge**cough**Jason Van Dyke**)

I defended this man because I was thinking that that could have been me or someone I know. If someone is brazen enough to attack a celebrity like that they would have no problem doing it to a regular person. So that's why this struck me. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I also thought that "ok so he probably does have some freaky private A list sex club invites on that phone or a whole list of nudes or gay closeted celebrities that he didn't want to get leaked out" all of that was valid to me And it could still very well be true aside from the hoax I am disappointed and angry. But he's got some issues to work through and I hope he get the help he needs.
Hell, the natural inclination when you hear something like that is to believe it, since most of us aren't going around pulling hate crime stunts just because it's Thursday. That said, he gave waaay too much far fetched detail for the story to sit well in my spirit. I'm not one to say I told you so, but…
