TLC will premiere the special My Husband’s Not Gay January 2015. In the documentary we see married men and one single man as they maneuver and repress their homosexual desires. The men do not hide the fact that they are attracted to the same sex or their homosexuality but through help from the Mormon church and their wives, they live a heterosexual lifestyle. As far as the guy who is single, he is celibate and looking for a wife who can accept his same sex attractions.
A few notable quotes from the trailer:
“With our faith in God we believe we believe we can overcome anything.”
“I like to say I’ve chosen an alternative to an alternative lifestyle.”
“I’m interested in men I’m just not interested in men.”
This special falls in line with the mantra of many religious folks and sects who state “hate the sin, love the sinner.” This saying in my opinion as it relates to homosexuality is bullshit. Sacrificing one’s personal happiness is not living your life but living for someone else’s beliefs. In this case it’s a sacrifice for a documented fake, made-up religion by a man who wanted to have as much sex as possible with as many females as he could, even though some were already married to other men. That man was Joseph Smith who wed over 40 females with at least one as young as 14 years of age.
These men are following a religion founded around 1830 by a polygamist, who got to fuck as much as he wanted but yet these men either have to be celibate or sexually untrue to themselves…how does this make sense exactly? Check out the trailer below.

I like shows like this and I hope everyone watches it.
Wow this seems interesting. Hope I can catch the documentary!
People are allowed to believe in whatever they choose. There are things more important than sex and relationships to some people. Aren’t nuns supposed to only be unwed virgins? They’ve made a sacrifice for a cause they believe in. Nobody should really JUDGE another’s personal decision. Just don’t tell me I gotta get in line with ya… that’s when we’ll have a problem lol.
Will be watching tho!
*Strong eye roll*
Any one remember a time in the history of Cypher Avenue when @Hannibal used to leave detailed, substantive comments that adds to conversations instead of dismissive “eye rolls” and 140 character equivalent of tweets? Yeah, me neither.

Can’t say that I blame him…
per your own admission and your comment policy, I thought you all were catering to the “140 characters or less” crowd….so as not to intimidate our non-literary brethren?

Didn’t know this was a private club.
I’m tickled by this gif lol.
Smh..this is why u aint shit!
No one is saying folks can’t believe in what they want but there is always a reason for the beliefs. If the reasoning rest in self loathing, how is that healthy?
In my opinion passing judgement is fine, just don’t enforce your judgements upon others. This is why these men in the documentary are in the state they are in.
I don’t believe self loathing is the the reason for the beliefs, as it is more of a by-product of said belief system. I don’t think it’s right, but it’s a slippery slope when you begin telling people about their belief systems. I stand firm in my belief system, as I imagine most people do. I just don’t think you can tell somebody that their beliefs are wrong. If they’ve found a way around their little “problem” as these men seem to have done, more power to em. I don’t agree, but who am I to tell you you’re wrong? Or you tell me I’M wrong?
Now if they start having nervous breakdowns and it causes them extreme psychological distress, then maybe they’ll need to tackle this a different way. But until then… those are grown men (and women) who are choosing to live this way and they believe it’s worth it. That’s on them… that’s all I’m saying.
I feel like it’s not really a matter of these men simply having a different viewpoint, it’s that they’ve been socialized to hate a perfectly normal aspect of themselves, which is their sexuality. Its a very unhealthy and dangerous mentality that often leads to anxiety, depression, and sometimes even suicide attempts. Its not only fine, but from a mental/emotional health standpoint important to criticize a belief that originates from abusive socialization and is so well-documented to be incredibly self-destructive to the individuals who believe it. Even if they don’t try to preach these beliefs to others, them holding this kind of self-hatred is a problem in and of itself.
Whatever floats their boats. Seem extremely unhealthy for all parties involved. I don’t know that many gay or same-sex attracted Mormons but the ones I do know all tried conversion therapy and failed and it has made them much more jaded and broken men.
I wounder how this would workout in the evangelical black church…..guess what…it wouldn’t.

I want to see this in the hopes that it’s calling out how stupid conversion therapy is. But something about that trailer makes me think that’s not the intended message and I’ll be giving these fools the ratings they need to feel like their system is valid. This is a tough decision.
So basically, celibate gay men who are entering relationships with females because they have been shamed by people to not be who they are. The least of which, could be that they are bi sexual but that doesn’t even appear to be an option. Well, at least not for men. Females seem to be the only ones who can play the Bisexual Card.
You can only go against your nature for so long and if your nature is in fact a homosexual, not acting on it can be dangerous, mentally and physically.
Hope for the best for these guys and that they are not made a mockery. Everyone has their own paths to walk.
I hope this show is watched by everyone so everyone can see once again how ridiculous this notion is.
[Insert sarcastic comment about ‘strong’ males in the church mentoring the fellas who are ‘soft’ and another sarcastic comment about pretty church big girls with long hair dating ‘soft’ guys to turn them around here]
It should be an interesting series.
