The show still needs work, but the light-skinned brother is fine!
The show could use some more funding. But every new episode still leaves me wanting to see more! Nice work.
Would love to meet and talk with the director. If you’re reading let’s chat, I’ve already sent you a message on Facebook.
The first episode was their chance to grab my attention (which they did), the second was an opportunity to “hook” me in… I must sadly report that it was a Fail!
The writing wasn’t all that bad actually, it was the Poor Acting that sunk the ship for me. NONE of the characters are convincing in the least bit…But I’ll give the brothers an “E” for effort.
I’m not buying it, as bad as the acting is the writing is worse, the major factor is there’s no chemistry between the characters. I’m not buying the guy playing Trent, in all honesty that character needs to be recast.
I’m glad someone does see what I see and saw. The actors are unbelievable; they lack chemistry; the acting is horrible; the set is chintzy at best. The camera man? Fire him. This is a disaster and hopefully they learn from this. The worse experience is the experience whereby you don’t learn anything from it. Bad gone worse. And to think they think it’s good. Tell the light skin guy to take off the make up, or put some on – something is wrong with his appearance.
This is definitely not constructive criticism… Nothing nice to say at all? We complain about wanted gay themed things but tear them down. True it needs work but to be disrespectful is out of line. IMO
Skyy……Just because a person is black & gay doesn’t mean that they have to automatically support a project because the people in it are black and gay, and it also doesn’t mean a person can’t critique said project. The majority of the problems with the show are technical, it’s like the people making it have no experience in film production and the actors where pulled right of the street or they’re the producers friends who have no idea what a SAG card is and have never taken an acting class in there life, it’s like one day a few friends got together grabbed a camcorder and decided to make a movie. Fact is the truth hurts and the truth is that what’s been produced so far is mediocre at best, as much as people loved Noah’s ARC it still had a lot of work needed to be done and had it not been canceled it may have been a better show. A major problem with a lot of these web series is that they all have the same boring stereotypical format, 20 something stereotypical characters living in a big city telling the same story. Yes I would love to see black gay male representation on the big and small screen but there’s more to being black & gay than being a 20 something queen/thug/DL brother coming out of the closet or living in the big city.
Never said anything about supporting Freefall nor did I say a person shouldn’t critique it. My whole point was being respectful. YOUR post was constructive Criticism. I’m a writer and director myself so I know if someone is talking to help me or tear me down. I agree with everything YOU said and some of what the other guy said. Just didn’t care for his delivery of it. Lamont is definitely not new to this and I’m sure the show will get a lot better. Speak positive things and positive things will follow.
Okay…While I completely agree with Craig’s comments, particularly about the technical-difficulties and typical-mundane storyline and the somewhat lack luster-acting. I disagree with the whole idea that the producers/writers/director-lacked for something more solid to say.
Lamont Pierre is definitely a dynamite director & writer in whom I think here (just check out his other short films), or maybe its me just wanting to root for FREEFALL nonetheless, is slowly but surely unveiling each character by using the subtlety approach of telling this story…I loved how they made the music apart of the scene gently without bangin us over the head with certain pop-culture/styles of music!!
Technically, the audible sound overall is horrible and should be re-examined for flaws!!! Because I indeed never gave thought to whether or not of Cameron’s sexuality was straight or gay?…and the fact that somehow or another Trent doesn’t know for certain will have me checking it out-lol! But I do think sometimes many of the LGBT community views are a bit skewed when it comes to what’s true acting, especially if its a dude appearing straight-acting gay…that knda thing varies from person to person! so give Lamont a break and see it through guys! Peace!
True. Films about gay men of color are so rare, that I have to support this effort. But, it needs MAJOR retooling. The actors have ZERO chemestry (and almost as much talent). I suspect they are friends of the director who are doing him a favor. Everyone other than the light skin actor needs to be recast. And his only saving grace is that he is good eyecandy. The writer and/or director needs to allow the script and actors to breath. Look for moments and dialogue that are relatable. And, cut the corn. Who the hell talks to himself while beating his meat!! No one does. That scene should have been much more natural. All men recognize jacking off when they see it. No need for cheap-porn-like dialogue to get the message across. It is distracting and totally unrealistic. On a positive note, I do like how the actors break the third walk and speak directly to the camera. That is affective in limited use.
Every time I watch an episode of Freefall I try to analyze what I like and what I don’t like. I think Trent is an asshole and Langston does an average job of portraying him in that light. I only say average because he does turn the character into that dude who thinks he’s the shit and his dick will carry him throughout his entire life, but the execution needs to be a little more believable.
I think Shamon is a beautiful brotha, and in his moments of vulnerability I see him trying to convince us that he is the character he’s playing. I loved when he looked into the camera and said ‘I don’t ever want to get used to sleeping alone’. It was a tender moment, one that I wasn’t expecting from him. Unfortunately, that’s the only time when I was surprised by his acting skills. The monologue with him talking about making Trent bowlegged made me laugh. Even if he could do it, that line should have been said by Trent because that’s what asshole, douchebags say.
I want more tenderness from Xavier. And I like Cameron because he seems more like the type of dude I would want to date or hang out with, and Joseph does a fairly good job in his role. Even though, thinking about it right now, I’m still unclear exactly what his role is. Who is Cameron in regards to the triumvirate of these three brothas and what will his story unfold in future episodes.
I’m still not 100% in love with this show but I will continue to support it until they run me off with some mundane, predictable fuckery.
Couldn’t agree more with the comments. The acting is subpar at best. Keep the Cameron dude- recast the rest. The writing seems okay
I didn’t want to respond, but I had to. These comments are comical. These young men are doing the best with what they have. True it’s not a million dollar caliber production but I’m sure the budget is very tight.
If your see this fellas, Ray Charles to the haters, keep doing your thing. How can I donate to your production?
RIGHT, can we not be so offensive and negative?
How many web series have the critiques acted in? I applaud these guys for it, I don’t believe I could, and do as half as good as those portraying these characters, but queens will be queens when it comes to their opinions on what others are attempting to do. On that note, Bravo Web Series! Toddles.
great show. wow @ color struck comments. regardless of skin.tone.I liked
I miss Langston who was recast for a web production that went bust.
