This week’s edition of “Kush Trailers” will be a little bit different because it will be top heavy with video game trailers.  The PS4 is on the way and we thought we would feature some interesting trailers that caught our eye. The CGI effects, musical scores, sound quality and cinematic action in video games get better year after year and those featured below are no exception. Many games also use real actor voices and facial movements and recognitions that add to the realism.  We also threw in a couple of movie trailers that have made a big splash recently.  Check them out and be sure to share your thoughts with the Cypher Avenue community.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

Wait…video games are minoring in slavery story lines now? Assassin’s Creed is back with its fourth installment in the highly successful franchise.  Within its DLC (down loadable content) you can play online as the character Adewale, a rebel slave turned pirate assassin.  The haunting realism in the trailer took me by surprise and I think it’s great that you will be able to play as a Nate Turner, Django character hybrid.

Dying Light

Hmm, this maybe a typical zombie apocalypse game but it seems that it has some twists.  This game isn’t just killing as many zombies as you can to rack up points.  You have to survive zombies along with other humans who may want to take you out in order to steal your precious supplies and cargo…Walking Dead anyone? The game play type is of a first person action that is heavy with Parkour principles to overcome obstacles with the combat action of Krav Maga. I’m sure the game will have DLC along with a diverse supporting cast. Check out the cinematic trailer and the cool game play trailer below.

WarFrame

I’m not sure about this one. It could be hit or miss.  Sci-fi mixed with marital arts and hi-tech weaponry used by futuristic ninjas?  I must say I love the creativity with the costume designs even though I sense elements of Guyver.  Up to 4 players can control the diverse members of the Tenno, ancient warriors who have awoken from centuries of cryosleep to find themselves at war with a race of militarized human clones, a mega-corporation and victims of the hi-tech zombie like virus. To fight back, the Tenno use advanced exo-armor with unique abilities “Warframes”. This is a Third person shooter with the camera angle positioned over the shoulder a la Gears of War.

NBA 2K14

Okay everyone knows this is an NBA basketball game.  One team against another and who has the most points at the end of the fourth quarter wins.  However sports games have always been about one thing; how close can the video game come to an actual simulated sporting event?  In terms of graphics and game play mechanics, NBA 2K14 is damn close.  The next gen graphics are amazing and all players are undeniably recognizable.  Let the trash talking and bragging begin…its game time.

Thor: The Dark World

The God Of Lighting and Thunder is back with his second film.  This time around Thor must battle the Dark Elves who want to bring about destruction to the Nine Realms.  From the trailer, Thor will obviously need assistance from his brother Loki who is imprisoned for his action during The Avengers movie.  We all can see how this is going to end up.

Caption America: Winter Soldier

With a featured movie and a starring role in The Avengers, Caption America is moving onto its second film with Winter Soldier.  The agents of SHIELD are back with The Cap, Nick Fury, Black Widow, and introducing Anthony Mackie as Falcon. Marvel / Disney’s steam engine just keeps on rolling.
