REVIEW: Lee Daniels’ Light-Skinned Hip-Hop Series EMPIRE
I got to see an early screening of the first episode of Empire on a big screen here in Atlanta. The room was packed with well dressed black people of different ages, shades, genders and sexual orientations. Very nice crowd. Having said that, there are some gay scenes in the show and (you guessed it) the majority of the crowd didn’t like it.
Anytime the gay character did anything “gay” the uncomfortable groans sang out like a black church choir in the Bible belt south.
HBO snags “Bros” for a Development Deal
Looks like writer/creator Benjamin Cory Jones’ network gamble with his pilot “Bros Before Hos” paid off. The Hollywood news site Deadline has announced that the show, now more appropriately titled, “Bros” has been picked up for a development deal with HBO.

BROS BEFORE HOS is a television pilot presentation about what it’s like to fall in love in this crazy world we live in now. The series is a semi-autobiographical comedy about three brothers, two straight, one gay, each dealing with modern-day issues in Los Angeles while trying to find love, but screwing shit up along the way.
